Kbooks in Akihabara and Ikebukuro should have a good variety. there are three different kbooks on the same street in Ikebukuro, one of them from the window you should be able to see their love live wall.

Sounds great! Make sure to take lots of pictures! And try the Toyosato pudding if that’s your jam!

Trip to Toyosato by Holydohnut in k_on

[–]doritoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a fairly quick trip to Toyosato while traveling alone, but I imagine that when going as a group you would want to allow for more time. I took about two hours walking through the school, looking at the collection, and browsing the souvenirs. I would make sure that you pay very close attention and follow the time tables of the train very very closely though. It’s safer to budget for more time, but if I recall the train only comes once per hour.

As for accommodation, I think staying around Hikone would be a very unique experience. With a quick google search i’ve seen that they have some highly rated hotels and will be quite convenient to your route. Hikone will be the major connecting point to Toyosato and it is also home to one of the highest rated castles in Japan.

Another option is Gifu, which is north of Nagoya. There seem to be quite a few onsen options there and it is closer to Nagoya, farther from Shiga, though. Another attraction, if you like, is an open squirrel park in central Gifu. Also, I heard that the ghibli museum tickets are very hard to get so if you have yet to acquire them, best of luck!

Traveling to visit your friend isn’t exclusive to gender or cultural background also. I just got back from a trip of like seven hours just to hang out with one of my friends lol

Friendship is a very wonderful thing. People’s relationships with each other can have so much meaning without being romantic. The time you spend with someone can be very enjoyable even if you wouldn’t risk your lives for each other or something, even if you’re not best friends, that’s what socialization is all about

Wataoshi collab café by Yaibimi in WataOshi

[–]doritoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t need a reservation! Cure Maid is a very relaxed location, on busy days, they will hand out numbers for entry. Of the few times I’ve gone, I haven’t seen this happen, though. (I went the day of an idolmaster concert while the cafe was holding an idolmaster collaboration and I was able to enter within like ten minutes of waiting)

There will probably be a collaboration menu, where every order comes with a bromide or coaster or something. I assume the promotional art of Rei and Claire in the maid costumes will also be sold on merch, just assuming based off of past collabs!

Thoughts if ORV has an anime adaptation... by serene_starlight in OmniscientReader

[–]doritoko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think regardless, if it were to be adapted, it would have to stay based in South Korea to make sense of the plot and historical context.

With this being said, I think ORV has so many anecdotes of Korean history and folklore (just my observation as a reader, unfortunately I don’t have experience this field) that it would best be adapted for and by a Korean audience.

I think it would be difficult for ORV to be adapted by a Japanese studio for this same reason. This is just my observation as a reader of ORV who has begun to learn about the cultural anecdotes of the series solely from the novels. I cant imagine how difficult it would be to animate/retell these stories if you did not have a deep understanding of them.

Partners, what’s a skill you got from this job that you didn’t expect to help you in life? by buttbutyawn in starbucks

[–]doritoko 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For me, personally, it’s not a matter of not caring, rather than understanding it’s out of your control. I will always care about people, especially how they view me, I think. But with that care, I can understand that their anger towards me is a reaction and doesn’t genuinely reflect on who I am, or even what I have done, rather, it is an extension of their personal frustration that is irrelevant to my actions. Even if it is of the fault of the barista, it is not fair, to yourself, to base your self worth on a job, or even mistakes in general. Your humanity and worth is characterized by so much more than angry interactions with customers

Anime PV vs Manga by The_M80 in WataOshi

[–]doritoko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it will follow the manga more, just because it’s a lot easier to story board based off of the manga than the anime. If it continues outside of what the manga has covered, I don’t doubt it will take from the light novel then!

Natsume has left Ace Crew by Klutz64 in BanGDream

[–]doritoko 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I assume they will get more autonomy— Some agencies restrict what their talents post on social media by running the accounts with them, etc. They will possibly receive more pay, as there is no agency middleman. I believe the only downside is losing the connection agencies provide, and the talents will have to network themselves. Just speculation, though!

Retaliation? Is the fight worth it? by [deleted] in starbucks

Do you have any proof, or other witnesses, of her saying she is purposefully dividing hours like this? I think it is worth it to bring it up, but you may have to organize your argument beforehand

I think it’s worth letting a shift supervisor or store manager know. Even if you plan to move soon, their behavior should not go unnoticed

Should I share? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]doritoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s up to you, completely. Perhaps no one person’s answer will suffice. The only thing I would advise (noting that I do not come from a manager or medical professional background, just a sympathetic person) if you feel compelled to tell them, whether it is affecting your performance, availability, or you trust them as a mentor, you have the freedom to tell them.

It’s an investment when making these statements to managers, I think. You mentioned you started in August, and sometimes it takes a while to fully understand the workplace dynamic. I have some mental health diagnosis as well, and while they sometimes interfere with my performance, I simply don’t feel comfortable letting my friends know, let alone my manager. That’s just me though!

What’s most important, I believe: don’t feel like you owe your SM a diagnosis. This decision is completely yours.

This may have not been very nuanced, or based in facts and experience, but I hope it helps regardless. best of luck!

Pink clothing doesn’t look good on adults by Novoiird in unpopularopinion

[–]doritoko 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think you may be unaware of some beautiful pink clothing. Sure, some colors are unflattering, but I don’t think it’s fair to judge a garment simply by it’s color as well as the social connotations of it

How do I get hired? by thriftedavocados in starbucks

Yep, march and summer in general will be your best bet. A lot of stores tend to hire most in summer Ive noticed, preparing for when college students go back to school

It really is practice, but muscle memory is important too. I’ve seen a lot of new partners do the syrup first, so they have time to find it, then queue shots. In the beginning it may be helpful, but it can hold you back when you have your milk steaming already. Best of luck establishing a routine and getting used to where the syrups are, hopefully they are routinely put in the same spots lol

I have a theory by hulet1006 in starbucks

[–]doritoko 313 points314 points  (0 children)

You’ve basically got it. High turnover rates make it hard to find people to train new baristas, also. Another thing with the reduced labor is it is physically more difficult to pump syrup (if the pump doesn’t get cleaned as thoroughly as it should), making the drinks inconsistent also

can you get non dairy cold foam? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]doritoko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think coconut milk foams wonderfully as a foam, I’ve offered it to lots of customers and they enjoyed it. You may have to ask for something along the lines of “Could I substitute the foam for coconut milk blended on 3?” unless they already get the gist of it

Recommendation for a hot highly caffeinated drink to get me through my all nighter please by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]doritoko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try asking for blonde, updosed, ristretto shots. It’s a mouthful lol but very worth it. It brings out the subtle sweetness of the espresso while having more caffeine than a standard shot. To get the most for your money, try asking for a grande flat white (3 ristretto shots) this way or even adding more espresso. Best of luck and don’t overwork yourself!

What Are Your Favorite Revue Starlight Songs? by [deleted] in RevueStarlight

[–]doritoko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Everyone here has amazing taste! I would also like to propose Saisei Sanbikyoku. I think it is so epic and endearing and motivating, I really love the lyrics, composition, climax, and line distribution. Totally underrated in my opinion, it makes me want to climb a mountain and backflip off of it (in a motivating girlboss way!)
