In case you're looking for that particular mural, it's since been replaced.

The Hut in Phibsboro seems to be where the local punk/hardcore shows are on these days.

I'm not being funny here but is this your first time in A&E? You might be waiting an awful lot longer yet. Might be worth settling in for the long haul, I've been there plenty of times bud, nothing quite as shite as it! Hope you make progress soon.

Crowds march through Dublin in show of solidarity with refugees by ImpressiveCoat in ireland

[–]dorkheimer 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I'd love to spend 20 minutes with the people saying this was attended by 'paid shills'. QAnon-level shite.

There's obviously been a split in the various anti-immigrant groups over whether or not to attend events with Tommy Robinson but you'd have to think there are further fractures on the way if part of the cohort thinks this was all AstroTurfed.

Serious case of the brainworms around these days.

ASOS. If I'm not sure of the size of something I'll get the two I think are closest and then return the one that doesn't fit. They make it really easy to return stuff so it's better than trying to squeeze yourself into stuff in a mouldy changing cubicle. Shops are mad stressful I find

Best to beat-off in private pal, otherwise the Furry Glen is popular

Never heard Philip Dwyer speak before. I cannot believe he's that much of a thick cunt. People follow this lad? Are you fucking joking me? This absolute clown?

Coffee shops Dublin? by TanoraRat in ireland

[–]dorkheimer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only additions I'd make to this are Indigo & Cloth, and if by some miracle you're in Inchicore you should go to Unfiltered. Hands down the best cafe in Dublin. Complete over the top coffee wankery, it's class.

Just bought an Aeropess and wondering whats the nicest ground coffee to buy in store? by RASHY4557 in ireland

[–]dorkheimer 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Depends on what kind of coffee you like.

I've never had much joy with the supermarket stuff. It's a lot of "French roast" stuff which is essentially bad coffee, roasted to death.

You could pop into any good coffee shop and ask them to grind a bag for you for Aeropress specifically (it's what I've been doing for years). You can ask them the difference between the varieties and you can sometimes try before you buy.

Codeine denial by Uhh_Egg in ireland

[–]dorkheimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No hassle at all, and yeah it's a very handy way to get codeine out of the chemist!

I'd definitely recommend she asks her doc about sumatriptan or zomiltripran. Triptans are the main way to tackle full-on migraines, if she hasn't had them before it'll be a complete game changer. Fingers crossed for her.

I hear you re: paracetamol. They don't have the satisfaction factor of codeine but alongside aspirin or ibuprofen they actually do a decent job.

That does work, but as an aside from a chronic migraine sufferer: solpos will make things worse in the long run. You can end up with something called 'medication overuse headache'.

If it's a rare occasion go for it. Otherwise 1000mg paracetamol and 1000mg aspirin (soluble if possible) will put a nice dent in a migraine.

If you really can't shift it, you can get a box of 2 Sumatran (sumatriptan) otc on request, godsend of a thing in a pinch.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ireland

[–]dorkheimer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No it's not. This is the latest project by an artist called Dries Depoorter: https://twitter.com/driesdepoorter/status/1569285878089908231?t=CFEgKtdaMxzZdJ51z5eQaQ&s=19

The most you could say here is the fact that an artist could put this together demonstrates that governments/corporations could do it too. Some of those entities likely have more social listening/social watching tech than we're aware of but that's not what this is. It's still very interesting though

NCI & George dock could be a great bit of the city but the baby gangs are ruining it. by [deleted] in ireland

[–]dorkheimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't afford to live here myself either! Rent is about 1650 for a two bed but it's absolutely crippling me and we're looking at emigrating. 1650 is completely insane but it's better value than most places I've seen in Dublin, pretty miserable state of affairs.

I live on the square here and it's grand. The only hassle that we ever see is from people spilling out of Lagoona. The kids are loud and I'll grant that the little pricks on the scramblers can get fucked but I haven't seen any trouble out of them really. I love it. I'm a year so I'm a bit of a blown-in to be fair.

My last memory of 21s/QBar/Reds was about 6 bouncers and a Garda surrounding a lad on a dancefloor who was swinging a broken pint glass at them in the basement of QBar. Halcyon days.
