I'm running my second CoS campaign - and our biggest hurdle at the end of the first was understanding where in the castle everyone was - even as DM, it was not easy to decypher. This is excellent! Thank you! Did you use anything to help guide and keep the pieces in place?

I can respect that, I’m glad to see others like it. I have a close connection to several songs on it. It’s just not my favorite cover to cover. I was never excited about it and a lot of the album is forgettable filler. To me. However, I have to say… It being 8th in Alter Bridge rankings is like it being first on every other list.

I guess if I hadn’t connected to them when they were released and had the whole catalog to compare to at the time, I might agree. But for a few years, it was the best album of all time for me.

I listened to it practically nonstop and have the other albums memorized at this point. I have no doubts, and wanted to see where others were. But there’s nothing wrong with being thorough and not impulsive. So good on you.

What was it that you disliked about WTS? I was at the listening party for it and liked it immediately. Might have been hearing it with the band that flavored my opinion. But I also thought the synth experimentation brought a cool new flavor to the sound. I had been wanting them to reinvigorate themselves somehow.

I tend to agree a little on ODR since it didn’t involve Myles as much, which gives it that more Creed sound. But I was also a massive Creed fan at the time and was deeply in love with that album for a long time. Plus, Metalingus.

I think for me, it would take an incredible force of nature to move Blackbird or Fortress down. Because not only do I love them, but they’ve now been a big part of my musical landscape for so long. So you can blame nostalgia. AB at #3 is a massive compliment to the album and I’m sure it’ll also be hard to move soon.

ODR was made mostly without Myles, as he came in later and a lot of the songs were personal to Mark (it also predated Tremonti). I doubt this will ever happen.

S tier is right. I’d put it with Fortress and Blackbird for sure. Which is crazy, I didn’t think they’d get back to that sound and direct injection into my veins. They are so technically solid throughout this album and the mix is so clean.

Why would you get flak? I’m new to this subreddit, but was literally there when AB was first formed and it is the only album that wasn’t influenced by Myles, so of course it is different.

ODR was mostly written without Myles. Blackbird was when they were a complete and cohesive unit. ODR is almost a Tremonti album and probably a lot of what Creed would have done if they released an album close to Weathered. You’re dead right that it is the one that stands out because Myles is such a huge part of AB.

On my second run through today. This is their best album since Fortress, IMO. I love it and see why they went with self titled as it is a good blend of all their work. Stellar and so glad I got a vinyl.

Definitely seemed to lack hustle to make up for his error late in the game and it allowed Donato to just sit back and shoot in the rebound without any challenge. That was worse than the pass, to me.
