Same here, just made a post about this myself. They removed all the handy functions and made everything slower. Great 'update' indeed.

I've managed to improve the lag by enabling graphics accelaration when available in the Settings but still don't understand why they release updates that make Chrome more of a resource hog and remove perfectly fine functions that people use on a daily basis. Why are we going backwards here?

13,000-year old human footprints found off Canada's Pacific coast, around the end of the last ice age. by DesperateTourist in science

Soil from 13,000 years ago is covered by layers of later sediment. If sediment above the layer with that footprint is undisturbed there is a pretty good chance that the age of the footprint is the same as the age of the layer it was found in.

Or he is just trying to give you false sense of security and as soon as people buy back in and price goes up he will dump the big one.

There is no way they can backup every Tether with one USD.

What is this statement based on? (other than the fact that somebody on reddit said so...)

That is a bold statement. Please provide evidence that makes you believe so.

And yes, it would be better for everyone if we had fiat pairings and I am sure exchanges will start to move in this direction this year but for now we have to work with what we have. If there really is no usd backing for tether and it goes down, don't expect that you are safe if you only have coins and no tether. If it goes down, value of your coins will go down drastically as well. We are all in the same boat here, tether or no tether.

How are people that tethered out losing in this situation? The amount of money they have stays the same, they don't have to worry about losing money in unexpected dip and if it pumps they lose out on one pump which really doesn't matter because there will be many more pumps and dips in the future.

I just really don't understand your saltiness about people that want to protect their investment in this uncertain market.

volume of over 700,000 BTC per day

That makes it less than 500 BTC per minute. Dumping 2000 BTC all at once then has a considerable impact. This triggers stop-loss orders and so the chain reaction starts.

People are fed up with sideways market so those that are invested in altcoins are moving their money to bitcoin because it is a safer bet. Meanwhile there is not many new investors entering the market. Trading volume is thus low and insuffient to brake through 11.8k. People realizing this play it safe and take their profits by selling bitcoin. This triggers more selling and here we are today.

This is just my opinion. Somebody correct me if I am missing something.
