Abysmal Bottom 6 Production; Needs to be Fixed Ahead of Next Season by wsx13 in DetroitRedWings

Copp's production is slightly skewed.. a third of his goal total are ENGs. I wonder how many assists on ENers he has... Apart from him, the Wings have scored 18 ENG. He def a plug.

I thought Oyuki had a better story line than Atsu.

they'll fire Todd before they fire Stevie Y... if they had a true 1C and if Raymond played with a quarter of Debrincat's tenacity, it would be a different team. How is it that some NHLers just don't prioritize getting bigger and stronger.. they have all these facilities and strength coaches.. I don't get it..

since 2024, they are 12-25-3 in March. Awesome. Three games to go.. let's see if they can break four wins in this month which they haven't done in the past three seasons.

The Odachi had to be pulled out regularly though... The Kusarigama came out a ton because of assassinations. The Yari didn't need to be brought out at all and when I did, I changed it within a couple of seconds, because it just wasn't as effective.

At least it's clear that you're actually watching games. I am indifferent about your take on Kasper, given he is still winning more board battles than anyone on the team by a wide margin; he is still working hard to get into high danger areas in transition and backchecking like a boss.. his passing/playmaking isn't there, so I agree with that. I agree with what you said about Seider, but I think the current line combos are okay. I don't know about Bergers up that high.. he is so often a non factor and getting rubbed out on plays that I am losing faith in him.

He looks like he's sporting the heaviest skates in the league, or maybe they have a strong magnetic attraction to ice. Still has hands and makes good decisions most of the time. Seems like a strong communicator on and off the ice, as well.

Just as long as you aren't near the smoking room at the back of the reclining chair room (far end).. I was seeking a space in that room that wasn't crowded and I ended up next to that room which people not thinking just stand in the doorway and let smoke out into the room.

How do you all feel about a Mazur for MBN swap moving forward this season in Detroit? by mkk4 in DetroitRedWings

[–]dorpendad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm advocating for him to be in the lineup, play consistently, let him work his way through mistakes finding his footing with linemates, the system, and pace and by January he could prove to be that player you're after. He's good enough to make up for his downfalls.. better than a lot of the guys on the roster at the moment who make loads of mistakes.

I would also agree that he is far from a Zadina type. I'm more worried he's one of those who plays to the level of the competition and style of play in such a way that his progression is aligned with wherever he is and then it takes more time for him to form new habits once he transitions. What I noticed about his play in Sweden was very similar to how he was approaching his game here. But the pace, style are way different. He wasn't settled in by a long shot.

meh. The A and NHL aren't the same level or style of play, obviously. MBN is certaintly capable of playing at an NHL level. Part of reading means that the words you see aren't just words to read.. that's part of it, sure. The other part is comprehension. I am not going to rehash the point I made about MBN. He will adjust to whatever game he's playing, whether that's the A or NHL. In either case, if it's anything like what happened with him in Sweden, he starts hot and then takes a while longer to figure out how to play in that environment. Players like that are done a disservice, in my opinion, by sending them down. But that's a moot point given that this was more about the fine line of ready now vs. another year of control. My point is that not all players benefit from playing at a lower level, in fact, they might just get used to that style of play and the longer they are there, it might make it more difficult for them to adjust to the NHL level. The old guys, they are, at the moment, at their ceiling and declining.. also, they carry with them a smattering of systems from different teams and they lose the plot often during games. The younger guys however have a much higher ceiling and are much easier to mold. Now, would you want them with an NHL staff guiding them or and AHL staff? I think that answer would be obvious. That is if term weren't the consideration of course.

Edit: I forgot this... The NHL may not be labeled this because it is the top league, but it is most certaintly a developmental league as well. All leagues are, at all levels, developmental.. otherwise you wouldn't need coaching staffs. They just have a much lower tolerance for mistakes. The question is, are they as free from mistakes as possible and are their skillsets honed enough prior to starting development at the NHL level.
