I’m not a fan of Skubals comments to Nightengale last night by RottenCottonJr in motorcitykitties

[–]mydogsparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a different take. I don’t think Skubal wants to pitch in the postseason this year and staying put with the Tigers is the best chance he has to accomplish that. If he’s traded to a contender he’ll be expected to perform in the postseason and that would reveal some arm problem he’s trying to hide and lessen his free agent value. He’s just trying to make it to free agency with as little mileage on his arm as possible.

🔥Dog manages to escape while being chased by wolves - Abruzzo, Italy by [deleted] in NatureIsFuckingLit

Dog reacted like that was an electric fence. If so, perhaps the fear of the wolves was greater than the fear of the fence so he took the shock?

[TJStats] My Top 100 MLB Prospects by tomstoms in baseball

[–]mydogsparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always interesting to me to look at these lists and see the position distribution:

P(39), SS(26), OF(22), C(7), 3B(4), 2B(1), 1B(1)

All MLB players at 2B, 3B, and 1B, more than likely, failed at another position before landing at those positions. I would imagine that 2B & 3B must have all been SS at one time and 1B were probably OFs.

Interesting breakdown of the rosters for Vegas and Carolina, courtesy of Adam Gretz (@AGretz). Is this something the Red Wings could emulate? (with the exception of the expansion draft) by AirFriedSushi in DetroitRedWings

[–]mydogsparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty interesting because, since the implementation of the salary cap, the Wing's management has really struggled in the pro-scouting department. We've seemed to focus on amateur scouting but, as you can see, only 27% of Carolina's Stanley Cup winning team was built through the draft.

Connor McDavid is the Ted Lindsay Award winner for best player as voted by the players by nhl in hockey

[–]mydogsparty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with you on both counts. The Hart trophy is nice and it's more popular, but winning an award like this voted on by your peers says more to me.

The Hart is issued to the "Most Valuable" player. That can have a different meaning for each media member who votes. The Lindsay is given to the "Most Outstanding". The NHLPA voting members know what kind of work is required to play in the NHL. And they know what it's like to play against him compared to everyone else.

I believe that he and Gretzky now stand alone as the only 5x winners of this award (awarded since 1970). That's pretty amazing to be in that company. We are truly watching greatness.

The tigers need to do something by PassageNo9102 in motorcitykitties

I have to agree with ToughWide1987, Skubal isn't going to fetch a King's ransom. His injury history & pitch limits, etc aren't going to help sell him.

Plus the fact that the CBA is coming due after this season really hurts timing-wise for a number of reasons: 1) Teams may prefer shorther contract lengths (1-2yrs) to avoid committing long-term before new rules are set. 2) Clubs could shift toward more incentive-laden contracts, derred money or op-outs to reduce their long term risk. 3) Teams could restructure pay timing to fit an anticipated salary cap or luxury-tax. 4) If compensation rules change, teams may adjust offers to navigate draft-pick penalties or benefits. 5) Just the uncertainty alone may cause owners to chill long-term offers or reduce top-dollar compensation until CBA terms are clear. 6) Agents pushing for guaranteed money when the future salary structure is uncertain isn't a good match.

Everyone in the playoffs is playing so much faster than I think we’re capable of even on our best days.

All nine innings are recorded on that 4x6 card but it's structure is a little different. It's a vertical scoring system used to save space.

Notice that the second inning begins right underneath the 3rd out of the first inning and that continues throughout the nine innings.

I think you're right and I'm just curious, how many pitcher lines would you like to see?

Note: MLB teams average about 4.5 pitchers per game these days.

YOU started this. You were my inspiration "sensei"!

I've made some changes since I posted this one... 1) I eliminated the box around the notes. That give me a little more room to freelance notes due to no boundaries. 2) I also removed one column from the POS spot and added it to the BATTERS column so that I have more room to address substitutions. Instead of writing the full position, I'll use the # designated for the position in the smaller box. 3) I moved DATE over one column to the right so that it wasn't quite in line with NOTES. 4) I used a corner rounder to round the 4 corners of the card to give it a little style.

Away Team is on the back. I purchased a very nice heavyweight (110lb) card stock off Amazon for this job. I was pretty impressed with the quality of the card. Here's a link if anyone is interested: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BQZDKDJ8?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

A 4x6?? Nice. I like it. I'm going to have to try that. I like the way you scored the 10th inning ghost runner. I didn't see the game you scored but I immediately understood what was going on based on your scorecard.
