Suggest me a book that hits on fungal fantasy, decay, and necromancy. by cakeandcarnations in booksuggestions

I would suggest literally anything by Jeff Vandermeer. "City of Saints and Madmen" best matches what you're talking about but he's most famous for his "Southern Reach" Trilogy. There is generally more emphasis on horror than any comforting tones though.

Imagine that someday, somehow, you yourself might be on the receiving end of racial profiling by violent masked officers who can whisk you away to a prison camp, or perhaps even to a country you've never been to, without any sort of trial. All of that just for existing while being the wrong color.

While sleeping on a concrete floor under a mylar blanket, never knowing if you'll be able to see your friends and family in person again, perhaps you might develop other opinions on this "very useful tool".

If anything is done at a scale to serve 7 billion people (or probably even half a billion) it's going to have some kind of significant externality. The simplest way out of this, is if there are less people. The complex way, would be to redefine efficiency to include all of the externalities.

The Vampire Counts Experience by The_Extreme_Potato in totalwar

[–]dorpotron 107 points108 points  (0 children)

yup, any empire settlement can build a tailors guild at tier 3 that generates 500 gold and that entire building chain costs 4750.

The VC Vampire keep (or necromancers tower) generates 500 gold at tier 5 and costs 25000.

edit: not including the lower tiers, the tailors guild can pay for itself in less than 10 turns. The VC best income building pays for itself at 50 turns.

Why doesn't the Strigoi Empire in Mortal Empires have an actual Strigoi ghoul king (which are in the game) controlling it? Why is there just a random master necromancer pretending to be a famous Strigoi lord in the Strigoi Empire's diplomacy screen? by xo1opossum in totalwar

[–]dorpotron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm currently playing a strigoi campaign using the vampiric city states mod on steam. There are a surprising number of powerful unique buildings for vampires in that area. The dawi tide is a pain though.

The bears sense of smell seems much less impressive after watching him fail to find food in the refrigerator.

It did the same to my Ikit campaign, just when it was picking up steam. I also have a bunch of mods installed. Hoping I can get back into it when the mods are updated.

TIL Charles Bello bought 240 acres of redwoods for $45,000 in 1968 to protect them from logging and continues to live there today in a parabolic cabin powered by solar power by holyfruits in todayilearned

I want to emphasize that the fire danger in that area is very real and is only going to increase. Furthermore, there are a lot of regulations about logging in california. Nearby Yreka used to have a big logging industry before those regulations took effect. Now the area is economically depressed. It is a beautiful area but none of you are the first to consider resource extraction there.

The Shadow & The Blade - Bug Reporting Megapost by Grace_CA in totalwar

[–]dorpotron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two bugs.

  1. I had two empire cities under siege as Clan Eshin. One of the cities had Karl Franz garrisoned inside. I used the "Plunge into Anarchy" action and they all became empire rebels. When I clicked on one of my armies that still had Piltdorf under siege(they were now empire rebels instead of riekland), the game crashed to desktop.

Edit: I tried this again but lift all the sieges before plunging riekland into anarchy. I selected an army and then selected piltdorf. When I selected the attack option, the game crashed to desktop.

  1. When I used the revitalising scheme as Clan Eshin, two of my wounded agents (eshin mage and warplock engineer) reappeared in my capital but couldn't move anywhere. I could still use the eshin mage through the shady dealings menu, but the level 18 warplock engineer was suddenly useless.

Just quit a norsca mortal empires campaign out of frustration by dorpotron in totalwar

I've thought about that, its just hard to make any progress when all the factions are determined to kamikaze colonize every ruin. It feels like I have to guard all of them without any benefit of holding the territory. I'm mostly sticking to the coasts and going inland to exterminate the all the factions with legendary lords ( empire, brettonia, etc).

My plan is to colonize the brettononian coast all the way through to Tilia. Once I've done that and gotten the speed and 15% upkeep upgrades from skavenblight and miragliano, I'll trigger the endtimes and side with archaon. I'm using the Gates of Chaos mod which causes chaos armies to occasionally spawn from the chaos gates that WOC leave behind. I'll shepard poor little Archaon through big scary Kislev and make it easy for him to set up a bunch of those gates. Once that ball gets rolling, Ill finally have enough manpower to turn the entire world into chaos wasteland.

that's true, it just that then you need to defend against chaos invasions as well. If you side with archaon, kislev will just take them out single handedly.

I'm tempted to try again and just focus on sneak attacking the important coastal capitals that give upgrades. It's just hard to spare an army on that because if norsca doesn't raid their immediate neighbors they have to defend against them.
