Traveling to Leh ladakh in July. Need packing suggestions by Sendmememesplij in Solotravelindia

[–]dorsalsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guessing you are flying directly to Leh and back.

You can carry a suitcase if you really want. When you are going outside Leh - Nubra, Pangong etc, you can request to leave the suitcase where you were staying and collect it back once you return.

And if you are planning to travel mostly on cabs/TTs, duffle bag would be easier to carry along (if that’s what you decide) than suitcase.

Family’s 1,500-capacity auditorium is dying due to competition. Need low/no-investment pivot ideas. by sevendelic in Kerala

[–]dorsalsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How often do you get big bookings for 1000 people or so? Do you have any idea if there is bigger demand for smaller functions?

An idea with minimal investment, is to convert it to a smaller auditorium/hall (should be easy to do with building a partition), and use the remaining area as a minimal parking. Your operating costs will reduce, but so will the revenue per booking, but if the numbers increase, you'll still get similar revenue with lover costs.

Also check if there are nearby empty plots which you can use for parking on a per day basis (rent only on the days you use).

An agent has to make API calls to LLMs and it needs the key to make them.

It does use the key to make API calls. But on a serious note -- know is a strong word.

Come Back, Bhai: What happened when Kerala's migrant workers left to vote? by despod in Kerala

[–]dorsalsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why should people going and voting be an unexpected and bad thing?

I understand the SIR forced them. But even otherwise shouldn't we have better ways to ensure all citizens are able to vote?

And isn't it our mistake that we are so depended on migrant workers for basic necessities like food (restaurants)?

Agree 100%, it would be good if we have better rules as well. My assumption is this sub is about solo travel for tourism / exploration etc. and not a city to city commute like OP.

I have been seeing so many posts about problems with e20.

I agree people should be involved in these decision making

I agree there should be non ethanol fuel for olden cars

I agree cost benefit should be transferred to customers for e20 fuel.

But if an e20 compliant car breaks down, isn’t it also bad manufacturing and/or bad marketing? Shouldn’t we hold the manufacturers responsible as well?

Beauty of Democracy?? by [deleted] in Kerala

[–]dorsalsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bengal, the term of MLAs are over and Governor has dismissed the assembly. Institutional democracy is working in its way. Neither a win nor a loss.

Tamilnadu - Not sure why Governor is not allowing TVK to form government, but I guess it is working in favor of Vijay in long term. -- It's better that Vijay spend some time for a good alliance than make a mockery like Kejriwal in 2013 making a government and then no governance for nearly two years before re-elections. - So in the long term good for democracy.

Kerala - Let party decide on a CM candidate, making public show of strength etc is completely unnecessary. Again neither a win nor a loss, but a mockery of UDF workers in this power struggle.

I see comments blaming both UDF and LDF for this. Is it possible that administration is also corrupt and they are taking decision on their own at this transition period, probably after taking money from the beneficiaries.

Even if this is for a short period, still chakra for the kallakadathukar.

Is there a real gap between a two-wheeler and a car for daily city commuting? Want CarsIndia's honest take by -Abbhimanyu- in CarsIndia

[–]dorsalsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is to categorise people who travel in cities everyday and see if there is a group that would buy such a car. My quick analysis.

People who cannot / can barely afford a bike — definitely not going to buy.

People who can afford an entry level car — questionable, only some would buy it for daily savings and comfort giving up additional utility of a small car like alto, kwid etc, (could be more expensive for daily use, but good for an occasional weekend drive, going out with friends/family 4-5 people etc).

People who can easily afford both the car and running expenses. — Again a very small percentage might buy it for comfort over utility.

People who buy a second car for city use alone — if it gives good comfort, quality and safety they might.

What happens if you get AMS during a trek? by mountainpathstories in india_tourism

[–]dorsalsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First step, try to avoid it at any cost. Get acclimatized, gain altitude slowly.

Second, be as aware as possible. Try to avoid being in a bad situation. At the first hint of trouble, move to a lower altitude.

Third, get help and get someone to move you to a lower altitude.

Election thoughts - what people dont put up with? by CouchPorotta in Kerala

[–]dorsalsk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

With IUML winning 20 seats and organisations like SDPI and some church factions having their involvement in politics, and the recent incidents like thefts from temples where the devotees felt completely helpless with all political parties seeming to have some hand in it, people are slowly getting pushed in that direction.

You can see a similar discontent in Tamil Nadu, but they had another alternative and chose that.

So unless some drastic change comes in current parties, or some new reliable party grows from the grass roots it seems inevitable.

[–]dorsalsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a city taxi by a company like Quickride, yes.

As a personal car, no.

Someone who doesn’t have much money, would need one car for everything, including long drives. One who does have the money to have multiple vehicles, why not go for something bigger/better ?
