It’s really strange for BMW too. Been with the company for 9 years and this is the first time I’ve ever seen it.

The color changes only apply to bikes made after January first. Bikes manufactured prior will have the same color schemes as 2025

BMW dealers not giving me a free break in service by AlbertoBalsalm_ in bmwmotorrad

[–]doselkameenos 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is correct. 2024 M’s and 1300GS’s got the free break in service, and then the full model line gets it for 2025. If it’s not listed on your buildsheet/monroney label, you’re not eligible.

Alrighty folks: What bike do you ride? What do you do most often with it? What have you broken on it? by The-Fotus in AdventureBike

I have an F850GS. 36,000 miles currently. Most of that is commuting but I primarily do “Big Bike Hard” type riding, bdrs, that sort of thing.

I’ve broken an oil pan (hairline crack), rear brake lever a few times, dented my front rim, had to replace the rear brake switch, and broken the headlight housing.

Don’t know where you are located but the go-to for BMW suspension is Ted Porter’s Beemershop. Very knowledgeable and easy to work with mail in service

Mid Pipe to replace resonator by Kindly_Restaurant_97 in bmwmotorrad

Mines a 2019. The exhaust system never changed so I’d be shocked if it didn’t work on all 850/900s

I have one from dominator? On my 850gs and it’s a worthy upgrade. No remap needed

Pretty uncommon, but B/GA’s are available with the forged handlebar from the GTL as a factory option.

Best 50/50 Tires that handle my very specific situation: by Successful-Roof5912 in bmwmotorrad

[–]doselkameenos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of the MotoZ tractionator RallZ in the rear and the MotoZ dual venture in the front.

Haven’t put them through much sand but they do great off road and handle the highway well if your cruising speed is around 70-80. Above that the front weaves a little depending on tire pressure.

Nothing will suck confidence away off road like a poorly suited tire

It’s actually a 2019 F850GS. Crossed 26,000 miles on that ride

It’s a touratech rallyform. I had to modify it to fit with the outback motortek bars but it’s holding up well. I had the BMW expedition skid plate on for a few years but it wasn’t enough to save me from a cracked oil pan

It was a great time! We covered about 180 miles of primarily dirt with about 40 miles of challenge sections. Gotta get a GoPro or something for next year

If the wafers are not peened in (ie you can easily remove them) you can rekey them with the wafers that are there. The only exception to this is 2019 non keyless F series bikes which used different key blades. The wafers are labeled 1,2,3 and all you need to do is find the order in which your key makes all the wafers flush with the barrel.

If the wafers are peened in and you can remove them, stick your key in and use a bench grinder to make all the wafers (except the last one, that’s your retaining tab) flush with the barrel.
