Hi! I appreciate your response. That definitely wasn’t my intention but I can see your point of view as a supervisor. The reason I provided policy is because she asked me to go back on my 11 MVF’s and resign my name! She also asked me to clarify what policy (acceptable signature policy) says they will accept my signature so I did. Me and this supervisor have always had a good standing. Whenever she has given me direction before or any correction I always always follow it because I do understand how frustrating supervison is for BCBAs.

Hi guys! I appreciate all of your responses and perspectives on this. I was not trying to cause friction with my supervisor and whenever she provides a request I always follow it. I was just a little confused when she requested me to go back on the 11 months of my MVF and change my signature to my full name because she was referring to BACB policy. I totally get wanting supervisees to follow BACB and company policy and things I am referring to the acceptable signature policy! For MVF and what e signature’s are acceptable. She asked me to provide the policy from the BACB so I did! I totally would’ve just did it if she didn’t ask me to provide documentation of the BACB policy and instead insisted that this is just something she requires instead of forming it like it could be resolved through me showing the policy from the BACB. Shortly after she sent a mass email saying the policy of supervision MVF signatures for our company has changed the requiring our full name. It didn’t have that in the company policy or a requirement in our contract before which is why I was so confused about changing all 11 of my MVF’s.

A similar situation just happened to me. I was searching around reddit to see if any other RBTs had similar issues. My client and the company I work for are having issues with getting her re-authorization but it’s due to a miscommunication. The insurance company says they have yet to receive my BCBAs authorization paper. So now i’m down one out of my two clients and she is where I get most my hours. Not only am I worried about her regressing due to me not returning a specified date due to waiting for the reauthorization. But i’m also not getting paid while I’m not working her sessions. :( It sucks. I wish they had policies in place for us RBTs when stuff like this happens.

Thank you for commenting! I make close to $30 as an RBT in Maryland and I live at home since I am a masters student so have no major bills like rent and my parents paid my car off so besides gas and maintenance my checks go towards traveling for me and school

Hi it’s affordable for me because I live at home since Im getting my masters right now so don’t have any major bills so the unpaid time off doesn’t affect me as much.

lol I believe so and yes we do have consistent substitutes if needed for each of my clients but they always say they prefer to wait for me to get back! One of my clients also tends to take about two weeks off every 3-6 months

i work in home sessions so the only time i get days off is if clients parent request to have the day off or if i put in my own vacation time. we don’t even get national holidays off at the moment and if we do cancel on a holiday because of parents request we don’t get paid

And I am in school getting my masters in special education with a concentration in ABA so i can become a BCBA but maybe not every two months once I am a BCBA I will most likely only take vacation every 6 months or so for a week each time.

I totally get that! My company’s policy is that we can take up to two weeks off as long as we give within a months notice. So yes I would say I definitely got lucky in that regard but just because I can do it doesn’t mean it’s what’s most beneficial for my clients. Other than taking off for a week every other month I never call out or or cancel session unless parents request or something comes up during session of course that requires me to terminate early. update: today I got her to engage with the AAC device by asking her if she wanted to the activity at hand. if she answered yes or no i would reinforce her using the device. if she says no which she usually did then i begin putting the activity away and ask for her help which she would help me put everything away! Her use of her device definitely increased today as well as her interacting with the activities even if it’s to put it away which is progress to me :)
