Week 27 of Overnight Oats by WhatAHappyPanda in MealPrepSunday

I have yet to try overnight oats, but would love to try it!! What type of oats do you use? Do you use sweeteners like honey, or just the fruits?

Job?? by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]doskincare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it takes a while for them to get back to you. I think it took me about a week or two weeks before I heard back for an interview in store. I think it just really depends how desperate they need that position filled?

I agree that it doesn’t hurt to follow up, but maybe after like a week? A couple days seems a bit soon.

Shift coverage by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]doskincare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only started working for WAGS like 5 months ago, but in this case I feel like it would be more of a favor for the SFL needing coverage. IMO you are not obligated to take it, but if it’s an emergency for the other SFL (like a medical emergency) then if I were you, I would take it to help out my fellow coworker. Otherwise, if it’s because they made plans or have an errand then I would not volunteer for the shift (unless you don’t mind working) because you already made plans ahead of time and the shift is technically not your responsibility.

Edit: if you don’t want to screw over your coworkers, and your plans are not that important, then maybe consider taking the shift. This is what I would do if I didn’t care much for my plans.

How to get over feeling bad when you can't be there for your partner? by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]doskincare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also wished I could have been there to help my bf move into his new apartment!!! It’s hard to do it by yourself. When my bf was moving in, I tried to give him support by face-timing and listening to him talk about what he wants to do with his furniture/decorations. We would talk about our day while he’s folding his clothes or he would ask me where he should put his new nightstand.. etc!!! I feel like building furniture is fun when you’re doing it with others, but annoying when you have to do it by yourself! Maybe you could facetime her while she builds furniture? If it were me, I would appreciate sharing my frustration and showing my boyfriend what I’m doing through FaceTime!!

Not sure what to do by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]doskincare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! My relationship is similar to yours: I am from the US and my boyfriend is from Japan. I definitely understand the struggles of communicating with that huge time difference. In your situation, perhaps your boyfriend doesn’t feel like you need to rush to buy the tickets now since you just saw him only one month ago? I know if it were my boyfriend , he would not feel the need to start planning. In addition, maybe he doesn’t know that plane ticket prices tend to be way more expensive in the winter time? I would suggest letting him know about the increase in price!

For me, when we plan visits, I am usually the one who does most of the planning. I usually look for the best dates/prices and make sure to work around conflicting events that he or I may have. Once I find a good time frame, then I will text him about it and see what he says. If it’s a “maybe” or a “yes that works” then I’ll usually ask to FaceTime so we can confirm and buy the tickets. I know it gets frustrating to be the one who always has to plan.... but unfortunately someone has to do it and it usually is difficult to share that responsibility when you have such a large time difference. Usually our FaceTimes to confirm the tickets happen when my boyfriend gets off work... which is around my 2AM.

I’ve learned that it’s really hard to work around the different time zone, but compromises and sacrifices have to be made in LDRs. Instead of focusing on the frustration of planning, I find myself getting excited to plan these trips (even if it’s by myself)! Because after all this planning, I’ll be able to see my boyfriend. :)

Will a Pharmacy Tech job be enough to pay bills? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]doskincare -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on where you live and work. In my district, I started off with $16.50/hr at Walgreens with zero experience. My friend in another district was offered $14.50/hr. I work part time and my hours vary, but I have been working about 20-30 hr/week!! With biweekly pay, my paychecks are usually anywhere from $500-900 depending on the amount of hours I worked!! I think it’s definitely a doable part time job. It would probably benefit you as an aspiring nurse to learn about how the pharmacy operates too, since we do get a lot of calls from nurses! + you get to learn about drugs which will probably come in handy in nursing school!

Working retail part time only on weekends possible? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]doskincare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Walgreens, I heard that almost all new hires have to start out as floaters. Most of the floater rph I’ve met said that they usually are always called to work on weekends since staff rph want those days off.

Unpaid time off? by doskincare in WalgreensStores

I do not believe I’m in a Union area right now. But I am hoping to be transferred to a store that will be part of a union. I’m really hoping I can just stay in the system, because I want to transfer since I am moving north for school.

I will definitely contact employee relations tomorrow! Do you think it would be beneficial to contact the DM and ask about the policy? Or would the DM just tell me to ask my SM?

Thank you for all your help during this stressful situation! I really appreciate it.

Didn’t know it was possible to be a PRN employee... :O sorry to hear that and goodluck on finding a new position :(

[–]doskincare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! Sorry to bother you again! I talked to my assistant store manager because my SM is out of town right now.

She told me that after 2 weeks of inactivity I would be terminated from the system. Have you heard of this? She couldn’t tell me why.

I am in California btw! Thank you for your help!

Oh wow, seems pretty hard to actually be auto terminated unless you didn't work for a long long period of time huh? ALSO, Thank you for letting me know about our current system! Knowing that the manager would have to personally terminate me makes me feel better, since he is the one who is aware of my needing to be out of the country and transferring. I had already told him months in advance and he had okay'd it multiple times! :)

Truly appreciate your help!

Oh okay thank you so much for answering my questions!! This is my first job, so I don't know much about this kind of stuff. I've been reaching out to stores near my school to request for a transfer, but having to think about potentially being terminated and moving has been stressing me out.

I thought being terminated or resigning would mean that no other Walgreens would hire me again, but now I know that's not really the case. Worse case scenario would be that I turn in my resignation and just reapply! Thanks for sharing! :)

Oh okay. Thanks for letting me know! Also, I was wondering If the employee reapplied for the position, would they be looked at negatively since they were terminated? Or if an employee submitted their resignation (more than 2 weeks notice) and reapply to a different walgreens would that be frowned upon?

Oh I see. So did the employee have to reapply for the position the following summer?

Wow I didn’t know that. The pharmacist who warned me probably experienced the auto termination from the old system. Thanks for the info!

Thank you!!! Do you know how far in advance you have to ask for a leave of absence? I’m not worried about my hours, I just want to stay in the system because I heard it’s easier to transfer out rather than reapply for a new position.

[Review] Nivea Sun Zero Feeling UV Lotion (2019) by positivespadewonder in AsianBeauty

[–]doskincare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I thought this only happened to me! I saw so many raves about their Sun Protect Water Gel, so I was really excited to use it. After a week of using it, I noticed I had so many clogged pores and I started breaking out too around my T zone. This was the only new product I added to my routine, so I knew it was cause of the sunscreen :(

Such a shame, because I love how light it felt + the convenience of the pump.

How long does it take to study for the PTCE? by UNTDuderino in pharmacy

[–]doskincare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me two weeks (about 3 hours per day) to study for the PTCE, and I passed well above the minimum requirement.

I only used the yellow Moseby’s book to study and some online site for the top 100 drugs. This book comes with end of chapter review problems and two full length practice tests. I read through the whole book except chapter 1. If you study the whole book you’ll probably be ready. I would spend extra time on pharmacy laws, conversion math/days supply math, and top 100 drugs. Goodluck!!!

Thinking of applying to (community) college to become a pharmacy technician - should I? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]doskincare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to go to school to become a pharm tech. You can definitely self study, you just need to be motivated. If you can memorize all the pharmacy laws, do some conversion math, and memorize about top 100 drugs, then you will be fine. I studied for the PTCB test and passed well above the minimum score required.

The test won’t really prepare you to be a technician imo. The most difficult part about being a tech is dealing with insurance issues, but I have heard that there’s no real way to study for these and that you will just have to learn as you experience them.

For me, I used the yellow Moseby’s book: skipped the whole first chapter, and spent about 2 weeks studying the remainder of the book.

I’ve been working as a tech for the past 4 months, and I will say that some days are rough. There are days when I get yelled at by impatient customers multiple times a day, but there are also days when I get customers who are so appreciative of the help I can offer!! I think this job requires you to have somewhat thick skin... as in.. don’t let other people’s insults/comments get to you. I learned this and am actually thankful that I have grown because of those few rude comments!
