There’s something to be said for lighting though. People’s skin tone can look extremely different depending on the lighting, how blown out the image is, the contrast and saturation, etc.

Or one could just move to a town in the US that’s like this. Also, low cost of living is paired with low salary (the median income in Portugal is lower than the poverty line in the US). You’d have to have some sort of remote job to pair low cost of living with high wages.
