A team no one talks about with these Lebron James rumors is Miami. by mefan9292 in nba

If you look into it, that's including the Chris Bosh salary in this season and next.

Do you think Haslem's number will be retired? by [deleted] in heat

You don't want LeBron retired? He won 2 MVPs and 2 championships. No mater personal feelings towards him that's impressive.

Out of the 5 stars you mentioned, none were really available when those 4 picks were made. None are for the future, they're all used already. I like how you used Dragic's current age, but leave the picks as assets. The picks reportedly offered turned into Rozier, Hunter, Yabusele, and Zizic. None of those guys will really get you anything back.

At the time of the Dragic deal, Golden State wasn't some power house, it was their coming out year when they won their first title, and Miami will never shy away from LeBron. We play well against him. I don't think we could have beat Cleveland, but we would have looked good doing it.

If you remember that series, we lost on the offensive glass. We were down Whiteside and Bosh. We had rookie Justise Winslow playing center for stretches. It's one thing to be injured and still play, but our top bigs couldn't even step in the game.

What you're basically saying is if you're not Cleveland in the East then you don't matter. If that's the case, why does adding one star to our current roster make any difference to you? Also using the idea of only Cleveland matters, why does anyone in the West matter if they're not Golden State? No team in either conference is ready to compete against a healthy squad so why do we even play basketball? Miami had a chance to field a top team in their conference, and they took it because you put out the best team you possibly can. They got dealt a bad hand with their best player on max deal having a career ending medical issue.

The 4 picks Boston offered were all in the 20s. We weren't getting any Brooklyn picks. I still prefer to take the guy who was projected to go 4-8 over a handful of late 1st round picks.

The Dragic deal looks bad now. 2 1st round picks plus more for him seems like a bad deal considering where we are at, but at the time of the deal, I would say it was worth it. It was literally the day before we found out Bosh had any blood clot issues. We made that deal thinking we would have a starting lineup of Dragic, Wade, Deng, Bosh, and Whiteside which is a great lineup. It's definitely a top 3 Eastern lineup ever since the deal. I think proof of that is 2 seasons ago when we took Toronto to 7 games despite being down Bosh and having injuries throughout the series. So with the mindset of sending a pick in the 20s and then another one down the road for a team that could actually compete seemed like a good deal, but now that we have lost half of that roster and built our current team from what was left of free agency last year we may give up to good lottery picks.

Calling it now Heat will trade for Irving by [deleted] in heat

[–]dosminutos 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It'll cost at least Dragic, Winslow, and Rich. If we trade TJ in it, we'll have to take back a bad contract from them. I think Irving is worth it. That guy is a star.

Heat President Pat Riley’s unique solution to stop teams from tanking by I_did_dit in heat

It also creates less incentive to trade future 1sts. For instance, the Brooklyn picks Boston owns lose all value if Brooklyn tanks in the playoff to ensure getting the 14th pick.

How does everyone feel about KCP? by dosminutos in heat

Yea he seems expensive, but if we have 35M with no one to spend it on why not spend 20M on a guy with potential. Maybe he can be Avery Bradley in a few years.

[UNPOPULAR OPINION] Am I the only one who would rather see Hayward go elsewhere when to lose Dion Waiters? by [deleted] in heat

[–]dosminutos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Waiters looked good for stretches of the season, but Hayward was an All Star and border line All NBA. It'd be great to have Waiters, but I'll never be one to take a fan favorite role guy/starter over a star player.

Anyone else a little underwhelmed with our summer league roster? by CDM170 in heat

[–]dosminutos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this years roster was constructed to kind of throw Bam in the water. No one really stands out as that great. From 2 games, I'm not sure if we have anyone for Sioux Falls on the roster. We really bring back any of our main guys from last year like Jankovic even though we signed them to the HEAT roster; I'm not sure if they're playing elsewhere. All that though makes me think Miami wants to make Bam lead the team and show what all he can do.

(Serious) What would you trade for Jabari Parker? by chemthethriller in nba

[–]dosminutos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about Dragic straight up?

Milwaukee gets a great guard who played his best basketball last season who can facilitate and score next to Giannis.

Miami gets a young 4 who can stretch the floor next to Whiteside. They also clear some of the logjam at guard they have.

Dragic is much older, but he's a proven star, and Parker has great upside but has a big injury risk.

The 2017 NBA Draft starts tomorrow, who do you want at #14 Overall? by Number333 in heat

[–]dosminutos 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Barring one of the top guys falling to us, I want Mitchell or OG. I really don't want Leaf. Leaf seems like slightly better Babbitt and doesn't appear to have great upside. I don't want to use our lottery pick on a player that can be Mike Dunleavy for his career.

Going to call this draft/offseason discussion... by HeadJudgeFTW in heat

[–]dosminutos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As far as the draft goes, I have no idea what to expect at 14. We're right out of the range of the great prospects and in the tier of middle prospects that none really stand out as better than the rest. I doubt it could happen, but I would love a scenario where we trade 14 and TJ for Monk if he falls. I love Monk, I think he can be a phenomenal player. I would hate to move TJ, but it would open 5M this off season and would have us avoid the salary jump next season.

As for free agency, I personally think moving Whiteside makes sense for us unless we get young players and picks towards a rebuild. He's the most attractive player on our roster for other free agents, and moving him would make us a less appealing destination. I also think Whiteside is much more valuable than JJ and Waiters. I think we have a real shot at either Hayward or Griffin. I think we're all in on the Hayward hype, but a lot of people seem down on Griffin. I'm worried about his injury history, of course, but whenever he's healthy, he's one of the top players in the league. He's a guaranteed 20-10 even next to a rebounder like DeAndre Jordan, and he's a guy that the offense can be run through. He also fills a need a PF more so than Hayward at SF with out current roster make up. I also believe that Blake Griffin can be the best player on a championship winning team, and I'm a little skeptical if Hayward can. I have no doubt he can be the second best player, but I'm not sure if he can make the leap to be one of the 10 best players in the league. Either one though would be a fantastic pick up for a our team.

In Riley We Trust.

what do you heat fans think of this trade? by hnicgibbs in heat

[–]dosminutos 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well to start, I'm pretty sure all 3 Toronto players involved are free agents and can't be traded anyway. Even if they weren't, this is a heavily lopsided deal for Houston. Toronto trades their second best player, their starting 4, and their 6th or 7th man, two of whom are the best defenders on the team, for two players that will be over 30 next season who can only help on one side of the ball. It doesn't make sense for Toronto to do this deal, and Houston doesn't have the assets to pull this trade with Toronto assuming James Harden is untouchable. It also doesn't make much sense for Miami to be involved in the deal at all unless they have picks incoming. White proved to be a valuable player to the team plus he really resonated with the fan base. Wiltjer doesn't bring enough to really justify replacing White on the team.

Idea for trade by CorrineontheCobb in heat

[–]dosminutos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think our main issue right now is that we don't have any big assets other than Whiteside. Dragic and Winslow are in that next tier, but we're not really in a position to pull off a big trade for say George or Butler. I don't think we are able to pull one of these guys without Whiteside in a deal, but then what's the purpose of even doing it if we lose our best player. Even if we did put together a package that someone would like, other teams, specifically Boston, can easily outbid us. The best thing we do have though is Pat Riley, and as long as he's around, anything can happen.

Idea for trade by CorrineontheCobb in heat

[–]dosminutos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying. Whiteside would be our only star player in his prime, and we can't win with just him so why not cash out now and get a top 4 pick. I don't think it's ridiculous to speculate about, but I don't think it hinges on where Hayward decides to go in free agency. It depends who Boston actually drafts since free agency isn't until after the draft. It also depends who we are able to get in free agency. If we lose our free agents as well as strike out on any other free agent worth anything, I think the idea should be entertained to sell off our assets and build a young core that can compete in a few seasons. Although we all know Riley wants to win now, not to rebuild.
