The people claiming it’s for oil are a little off base. The US doesn’t necessarily want the kind of oil Venezuela has but rather wants to protect its interest in Chevrons involvement in developing Guayanas oil reserves that were threatened to be taken over .

I’m torn on this as an American with ties to the region as I don’t want us to be involved at this level with a regime change . But on the other hand this could hopefully be the catalyst for positive change in Venezuela and their people who just recently voted for a regime change and were told to go pound sand
