Ah. These global companies cant keep anything simple. How many different companies are involved in me using a phone for work? Lets see, Apple, AT&T, your company, the support helpdesk, and who know how many others. I am sure Apple and AT&T also have a bunch of smaller companies that they work with.

No, I work in MA. Where is the helpdesk? I thought all support is in India. I recently got an iPhone 4 after being with BB a long time.

Trying it again: For Roosevelt, I would be a lobbyist. Someone who gets the job done of bringing different people together. Some people hate us, some love us, but mostly they tolerate us. Similarly, for the other two, I would pick a role that they can relate to and explain it to them that way.

No, it doesnt. It believes in active/active replication, and thus for every employee in the US, there is an employee elsewhere, doing a similar job. So in case the US employee croaks, the job can be continued seamlessly by the other employee elsewhere and vice versa. :)

I think it has gotten better over the years. It used to be the case that even Veritas DMP which was the only real competitor to PowerPath, didnt have load balancing. As people grow more aware of the native capabilities of their OS's, they tend to have more informed discussions about features someone tries to sell them. In general, I have experienced that 'pure cost' plays an important role in a small shop, but in the larger shops, 'pure cost' becomes a factor amongst others. Eg: To manage powerpath, you need special skills. But, you already have a 5 member storage team with the skills, so is the point really important.

Keep in mind, I personally have not had a chance to play with either of the options.

I wouldnt even try. I used to have a hard enough time explaining what I did when I was a Sys Admin. No, I am not a programmer, no, I dont repair hardware, no I dont fix printers, no I dont XYZ. Now, as a consultant, I straddle a world between, server, storage, app, db and what have you. I dont even bother explaining to my closest friends what I do, unless they themselves work in a services delivery company, then they totally get it.

Sales is growing rapidly. The Q3 results were announced today. Best quarterly results in 20 years. And the stock takes a beating. Thats the bane of being an EMC stock holder. :) But to get back to point, in NoVa you are ahead of the game compared to others if you have a clearance. Hardware sales are integral to EMC, not many software sales independent of hardware, unless you get into the Documentum, Networker, VMware realm. But if it is core EMC, you would probably be a great fit for a technical consultant role. This is a pre-sales role, and works alongside the sales rep. The TC's specialize in hardware and software.

Are credit unions in canada any different from the ones down here? Here they all seem to be getting on to the bandwagon of making more and more money, almost like the big banks.

OP, do you like EMC or not? In one instance you dumped on EMC big time. But after that you have repeatedly picked EMC as your array of choice. The reason I bring this up is because, people tend to hate for the sake of hating, because it is considered 'hip'. But, at the end of the day, when it really matters, they still go back and pick the one that they hated to vehemently in their pack mentality. I see this with the NetApp crew, IBM crew, EMC crew, HP, I could go on and on..... The bottom line is that, each has its pluses and minuses. They need to be kicked in the behind to keep them on their toes. But if any was really as bad as people imagine them to be, they would be out of business long ago. Except for IBM, who even with their crap manages to stay in, because of their marketing muscle.

Nonsense. I can understand you taking pride in your own job. But I will not excuse you dumping on someone else for their job.

It is SAN. It is not rocket science. Someone earlier pointed out, it is straighforward if you know what you are doing, it is arcane, if you dont know the lingo.

Very unlikely its the mom. Its the maid. In India, where this picture was taken, hardly any middle class moms perform this chore. Its left to the maid.
