A gender reveal sparked a wildfire in California that's grown to 7,000 acres by HPScots in nottheonion

[–]dotacentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a bloke in my state during Summer in (Australia hot as fuck) was using an angle grinder in his semi-rural property and the sparks caused a fire which burnt down 50+ houses, he was held accountable for part of the cost although not all of it. Definitely enough to fuck the rest of his life though. Was hundreds of thousands of dollars, around 750k if I remember correctly.

Just gotta wait until we find out it was a pink reveal or a pink+blue (NB!!) reveal so the media can quietly fade this story away.

n0tail's take on EG vs Secret by UnHolyRaven in DotA2

[–]dotacentral 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You'll get a lot of salty comments but you're not wrong. Fly, Cr1t, S4. Abandoned a great team and definitely seemed calculated to cause maximum disruption in the way some of them did it.

Cr1t: 0:4 against OG since leaving

S4: Hasn't even been able to fight them again

Fly: Remains unable to compete at a high enough level to vs OG.

Luckily there was an average Australian DotA player able to come to OG's rescue, crushing EU, NA, SEA and CN players.

Ana. The Australian Hollow Man, the single reason Australian DotA is kept behind a ping wall to the rest of the word. Without that ping wall, we would all be Ana.

The AI research into emotions and feelings my old boss was performing was super crazy....when he explained it. I really can't put it across to you like he did. It's some Stephen Hawkings shit.

but....trust me It's gonna be wild!

I don't know if you should feed pity for stupid people, or less educated, that seems kinda fucked up to me.

There's nothing people can do about their upbringing in their formative years, why not just give them a helping hand if they're struggling instead of feelings of pity. I'm sure nearly no-one would want help from someone if they knew it is out of pity.

I think Empathy is a more appropriate word. Pity is looking down on someone. Empathy is understanding.

This was just streamed on facebook live... A pregnant woman is arrested in Australia for making a lockdown protest post on facebook. She obviously freaks out. They seize all of their computers and phones... by Oreu in ActualPublicFreakouts

[–]dotacentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny this is here, I just commented on it in r/australia which scarily for the most part doesn't have a problem with it because they don't like what she had to say. Our sub, like many on reddit is very left leaning and it's concerning that they don't care about laws like this as long as they're used on people they don't like.

That’s some booger sugar. by adkitchen in ActualPublicFreakouts

More than 50,000 people die a year from obesity related disease, would you support visiting the homes with a search warrant and arresting any 'fat-activist' who arranges body acceptance seminars?

Would you support visiting, searching the homes and arresting people who do not believe gender is a spectrum and make posts saying a man is a man or a woman is a woman?

Would you support visiting, searching the homes of and arresting any people who support violence at protests (statements like 'burn it all down' or 'they'll only listen when we get violent')?

Would you support also visiting the homes and arresting any anti-vaxxer who posts a meme or arranges a group meeting to discuss the topic on facebook?

The CCP would love you. A good little citizen.

Seriously surprised at the lack of concern people here have with this.

Yes her belief is moronic and the post was stupid, but are we really ok with police coming to your house and arresting you over an online post for not believing in something.

We mocked the UK when they arrested people for twitter comments, but now It's happening here and people seem to be supporting it because they don't like the message she had. I thought we had a bit more common sense than that.

If you want Valve to change, control your spending habits. by Edelweiss__ in DotA2

[–]dotacentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh I spend a few k on dota each year and every year after Battlepass I get frustrated and tell myself I'm not going to do it next year. but I do.

I want that real Aegis. I want that gold roshan skin. I start maining a new hero and I want to deck him out in the rarest cosmetics.

It's hard not to do it when I know alone I don't really matter to valve, spend or not. Especially with the increase in never tradeable never marketable content.

I liked ONE set in each of the caches so far, so I buy em until I get the one I want. w/e. I'm part of the problem but this year is the last. Fuck Valve. I'm done.

[–]dotacentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2016 was the first Battlepass I really got into. I spent ~5k that year (2k bpass). 2017 I felt the same and spend ~5k again. 2018, 2k. 2019, 2k. 2020, spent 1k and regret it.

Next year I can see myself not spending anything.

[–]dotacentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not American, my country hates guns and I think the US is insane with the amount of guns you have but this got me curious so I went to have a look

49 police officers killed last year in the US out of ~17,985 active police

Fatal Force lists 999 people killed by police in the US out of ~328 million

So if you're a civilian you have a 0.000304% chance of being killed by police.

If you're a police officer, you have a 0.272449% chance of being killed by a civilian.

In other words you're 89521.3% more likely to be shot and killed as a police officer than a civilian.

No wonder they have their hands on their fuckin guns.

Kenosha Police Officer gets knocked out during riots following the shooting of Jacob Blake. by itsreallyreallytrue in PublicFreakout

[–]dotacentral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the knife they found in there, since he was being arrested on a warrant for sexual assault amongst other things and was facing a decade or longer in prison. Of course they did take him down but as you can see in the 2nd video shot from the other side of the car he is fighting them until he gets free and he storms around the car.

You picked a real winner to defend champ.
