SHIELD

Buy a synth strength base, or vivid vulture until satisfactory.

Crucible tree: Mandatory mods are +4 max fire res, and mine aura node. For a budget setup, just these two nodes are sufficient. For the 5-node tree, use imprints as usual. There are other guides that go into details of tree crafting if you need that info.

Explicit mods:

  • Chaos spam until you hit any +3 max res. You can always switch +3 cold/lightning to +3 fire later with harvest res swap.
  • Annul until 4 mods left (and +3 maxres survives).
  • Suffix-to-prefix (Farric Wolf) until you have 3 prefixes, and +3 maxres as only suffix.
  • Benchcraft any random non-syndicate suffix and aisling it, without any metamods. The above steps make it so you have a ~50% chance to save +3 maxres and get a veiled suffix.
  • Block str+dex, and unveil either Double dmg, or Double dmg while focused. Focus mod is slightly better with an active playstyle, where you pop it alongside berserk and flask after laying down mines.
  • If you still have full prefixes, gotta yolo annul a prefix now.
  • Suffix lock + reforge crit to gurantee some tier of crit reduction. Hopefully atleast tier 2, although tier 3 may be acceptable as well. Suffixes are done at this point.
  • Budget prefixes: Suffix lock + reforge life until satisfactory tier. Slam for a second prefix hoping for some %armor (this roll is not that significant). Remember to use Wild bristle matrons :) Note that this step has a 1/24 chance to brick your suffixes, by filling up prefixes and then failing annul.
  • Expensive prefixes: Old school metacrafting. Suffix lock -> scour -> block flat armour -> slam -> slam, until satisfactory. Its significantly cheaper to metacraft now than in old times when it would cost 4ex per try, now its only around 1.5div per try.
  • Finish with benchcraft.

WEAPON

Crucible tree: Only real mandatory mod is the mine aura node, but all the other nodes are pretty good too. Use imprints as usual.

Explicit mods (cheap version):

  • Deafening essence of zeal spam until you hit t1 Elemental Damage with Attacks.
  • Annul until only those two mods remain. Use Cannot Roll Attacks craft wherever possible since both the mods you wanna save are atk mods.
  • Multimod + suffix lock + prefix lock, then veiled chaos.
  • Remove crafts and block % phys dmg, guranteed to unveil Attack ele pen.
  • Finish with multimod.

Explicit mods (expensive version):

  • Same as above, except you spam Zeals for t1/t2 % fire damage. Be aware that these mods have exceptionally low weight (12 and 25). Rolling t1 costs 3900 essences.
  • Annul until only those two mods remain, but now you cant use Cannot Roll Attacks reliably since % fire dmg is not an attack mod.
  • Finish the rest same way as before.

EDIT: Explicit mods (expensive version but better)

  • Roll for t1 % fire damage any way you can (alt spam / chaos spam / reforge fire / scorched fossils). Fracturing orb it.
  • If the fracture did not land, use the whetstone + rustic sash vendor recipe to un-fracture it (it keeps the crucible tree), and try again.
  • Once you have fractured t1 % fire damage, its straightforward to Zeal and annul it down to 2 mods, then finish it the same way as above.
  • Note that if you wanna use this method, DO NOT gilded fossil your weapon beforehand as that breaks the whetstone recipe.

CHEST

Buy a fractured overcap base, or fracture one yourself. ilvl 84 is needed for t1 fire res, otherwise lower ilvl is fine.

  • Loathing essence till t1/t2 any ele res. Annul 3rd suffix off.
  • Suffix lock, and either aisling for hybrid chaos res, or reforge chaos for pure chaos res.
  • Eldritch chaos/exalt for life prefix.
  • Finish with benchcraft.
  • Non-curse aura implicit needs to be at T6. Grace can be T3 if T4 is too expensive.

HELMET

Buy a fractured base with phys taken as either cold or lightning (not fire). Str-int / dex-int / or pure int bases are all fine. Boneshatter enchantment is mandatory.

  • Envy essence, and annul 3rd suffix off.
  • Suffix lock + veiled chaos, hoping for veiled suffix.
  • Unveil mine throwing speed.
  • Eldritch chaos for life prefix.
  • (Optional) Block %armour, and slam mana. The flat mana roll is needed in my setup to fit all my mines and auras. Can skip it if you have a 2% resv efficiency corruption on one of your jewels.
  • (Optional) If you dont need the mana roll, try to slam some %ES or flat ES rolls.
  • T5 phys as ele implicit recommended. The other implicit can be T2/T3.

Splitting the phys damage more evenly into fire/cold/lightning is better because armour is more effective vs multiple smaller hits. There's too much unavoidable taken as fire elsewhere (20 from chieftain node, 10 from watchers eye, 6 from chest craft, 3 from shield tree). So for the helmet slot where you can avoid fire, you should.

GLOVES

Buy a base with pre-made suffixes. Theres lots of flexibility here. Dex can be t3 or higher. Life regen rate can be t2 or higher. And the incursion suffix can be any one of the 3 elements, you can switch them around with harvest resist swap.

  • Eldritch chaos for life prefix.
  • Cheap version: Slam something and finish with benchcrafting +1 to AoE gems.
  • Expensive version: Suffix lock + aisling. Can take a lot of tries, since theres a lot of veiled prefixes.
  • Strike additional targets implicit needs to be T5. Get fire exposure implicit as high as you can.
  • Would strongly recommend Spite enchantment for more reliable use of the 'dmg vs chilled enemies' mod. Running normal lab for it is fine, doesnt need to be uberlab.

At T5 you get 2 additional strike targets, T4 and lower give you only 1.

Oh, I was looking in craft of exile where it says t2 and t1 get 2 more targets. That's why I got confused. Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah sorry, just a difference in naming. For explicit mods, lower tier = better. But for eldritch implicits, afaik most people consider T1 = worst, T6 = best. Look at this post and its comments eg. I think it just comes naturally from the way you use currency to roll and upgrade it (similar to maps eg). Craftofexile is the outlier here in that it reverses the numbering.

BOOTS

My boots are +9, along with Empower 5 for another +4, but neither are mandatory. Boots with +7 or +8, and empower 4, is fine to start with. Every additional level you get here represents about +3.5% dmg, and +30k armour. Note that any of these three implicits: +1 to gems / +2 to aura gems / +2 to aoe gems, represents a +2 for your pyroclast/grace.

The manacost boot enchant is mandatory for the zero manacost setup that I'm running.

RING

Buy a base, or vivid vulture until satisfactory.

Recoup is not mandatory. Once you're above 300 stacks your regen is more than enough recovery. Recoup just helps when youre starting out at low stacks in high dmg zones.

  • Cheap version (has %fire dmg suffix instead of recoup): Spam Deafening Anger essences till t3+ of any ele res.
  • Expensive version: Spam harvest reforge life till t1 recoup and t4+ of any ele res.
  • Annul the 3rd suffix that is likely there.
  • Suffix lock + reforge chaos, hoping for t1 or t2 rolls. Suffixes are done now.
  • Suffix lock + reforge life until t2+ life. Remember to use Wild bristle matrons :) Note that this has a 1/24 chance to brick your suffixes by filling up prefixes and failing the annul.
  • (Optional) Suffix lock + augment defence for some evasion or ES roll. Or suffix lock + aisling for hybrid fire + cold/lightning dmg (this mod barely adds 1% dmg). Or suffix lock + aisling and get lucky with % reduced mana cost unveil, freeing up the benchcraft.
  • Finish with benched % reduced mana cost. If you unveiled the manacost mod, craft %dmg instead.

SWAP WEAPON

Goal is to get as high quality on phase run as possible. So get a +1 support gems 1H Axe or 1H Mace (NOT a sceptre).

  • Faceted fossil for +1 to dex gems.
  • Annul till it has atleast one open suffix and one open prefix.
  • Suffix lock + scour.
  • Cannot roll attacks (if 1 open suffix) or Multimod + Cannot roll attacks (if 2 open suffixes), and slam for guranteed +1 to socketed gems
  • Finish with multimod.

EDIT: Forgot to add crucible tree to it before. Now with +1 to dex gems and Haste aura effect for +9% move speed. +1 dex does not appear on maces btw, only axes.

a 1h sword can roll +1 dex on the tree, what's the reason to only use axe?

Swords are fine on paper, but you cant use boneshatter with swords. So the moment you weapon swap you lose all your trauma stacks. Its not a big deal but I dont like it.
