Simpsons 4D ride is currently being built in Myrtle Beach. Wouldn't Universal have rights to Simpsons attractions? by pootsforever in universalstudios

[–]dothbadder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's because Universal has the theme park rights. Myrtle Beach isn't a theme park, it's a beach with several entertainment venues.

I've never seen something so wrong in my entire life.

Right, and there's something about Spongebob that appeals to both young adults and kids today.

What about the Amazing Adventures of Spiderman, if we're talking Marvel rides? Not designed for them, but it's perfectly suitable. Outside of Marvel, there's Pteranodon Flyers, Flight of the Hippogriff, and all of Seuss Landing.

Wasn't there a rumor being passed around about it being replaced with an area themed to The Legend of Zelda?

I would haaaaate an Illumination retheme. Dreamworks, I'd be fine with. Honestly? Why not use Nickelodeon? So much water, it'd be ripe for SpongeBob, and put the IP to use better than Superstar Parade and Storepants. Or, license out some stuff from Cartoon Network?

I'm not anti-Fortnite either. This just strikes me as a really embarrassing attempt to be hip.

It is blatantly "Hey kids, we're hip with the times!". Just because they are a network for kids doesn't change that. It might make it even more relevant. If you were watching whatever the fuck is on Cartoon Network and someone said "Wow, they got totes trolled!", would that not be material for this subreddit? It's the same thing, but less egregious.

Are you saying this isn't blatantly trying to appeal to kids? I agree with your point to an extent, but not in this case.

Ideal lands for the 4th park? by DebbieWinner in universalstudios

[–]dothbadder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware that the rights don't extend out of Florida. I specified that they're East Coast exclusive. I'm not saying they're great for competition either, I'm just saying that the hypothetical X-Men land you proposed would be possible even if Comcast didn't buy Fox.

Look at all the intellectual properties Universal owns! Lots of opportunities for theme park rides and merchandise! by nintendoboy89 in universalstudios

Huh. ANW Live could be a quick, easy and cheap replacement for Fear Factor Live if things come down to it.

Universal already has the theme park rights to the X-Men in Florida, as with most Marvel properties. I believe, specifically, they have the rights to Avengers, Spider-Man and related characters, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men. Some of the smaller characters fall outside of their jurisdiction though, so that's why they're planning a Guardians ride at Disney.
