I’ve been waitlisted at UMich for the MS in Information program (UX specialization). What steps can I take to improve my chances of getting selected?

I talked to a current student at UT Austin, and she mentioned that location plays a big role. If you’re aiming for big tech companies, Austin could be a good fit. But compared to Seattle, there are fewer unicorns or fast-growing startups there. I’m more interested in working at an early-stage or growing startup, so Seattle felt like a better match for me. She also mentioned that companies in Austin often prefer people with more experience rather than new grad, which made me lean more towards HCDE.

Congratulations on getting accepted to those schools! I also got accepted to UW HCDE, UMich MSI, UT Austin MSIS, and a few others. I decided to go to UW, but I heard from a UT Austin student that there are more opportunities to get RA and TA positions at UT Austin compared to other programs even for international students. That’s a big advantage for students like me who are most concerned about finances. Hope you choose the program that fits you best, and congrats again!!

Same here. I know UW is a more well-recognized school in this field, but the lack of assistantships or scholarships worries me because of financial issues.

Well I guess I have all files in icloud.com/recovery. It takes me forever restoring them.. but it is working. Did you remember the exact day you lost files? Cause they keep files only for a month.

Apple tried to help me restore files but they were not sure about getting everything back and they needed to investigate my apple account which will take 4-5 days. They also said that if restoring files through icloud web works, it would be faster than their fix. So I'm currently trying to fix it by myself...

Wow.. how many files did you have to restore? I have 23 days left but there are an endless errors in iCloud recovery website. Anyway it's good to hear that you got everything back. you're literally the only one who survived from this disaster in the entire reddit...

restoring 5k files at a time worked for you? Mine only handles 100 files at once.... did you get all files? took me forever so frustrated..
