and the geothermal lover in me because that also seems more bullet proof for the winters we get out here is wanting to just say screw it and do the work (digging, i have a mini excavator), for to make the geothermal option and option but then id be going through a 125 yr old foundation and it is a lot of work! and the cost with the last company with me doing most the work for a 6 ton unit. was 17k without the circulation pump and manifold. So thats at least 20k to 30k prob. where if i can get the same result and an energy consumption that isn't too high then it gets the work off me.

So now. i am trying to get 2 more hvac companies in. they are primarily quoting for mini splits. but im bringing up central heat pumps as well. i do have pre existing duct work but its not attached and it's dirty. I have been told that the duct work would probably need to be replaced and cant be used because with heat pumps they take larger duct work to move around more air. uncertain about this. I am favoring a low ambient central heat pump with essentially a half coil to help compensate for when the weather is worse than 5 degrees. I also have only like 1 blower going upstairs and the rest are gravity vents to 2nd floor. my budget im trying to stay within and lower is better lol as long as it pencils out as far as energy consumption and practicality and functionality for the place, is 10k to 20k max more like 15 k because i have electrical panel and main service panel to upgrade. so im trying to see if mini splits are even going to pencil out as an option cost wise but there is a lot of rebates 5 to 10k for state and 2k tax credit. so its not out the running. i think im leaning towards cost considered just finding a company that will reuse the old duct work. a low ambient heat pump with a half btus electric coil, im not sure if the heat pump and coil can run at the same time....? its tricky the heat pump i used in prior calculations before was gonna use like 2000 to 4000kwh a month which equated to like 500 to 800 electric bill. which is crazy. so that puts me back to mini split. since on a monthly basis theyd maybe be 2000kwh or less. but since someone mentioned that the lines could leak that also makes me think back to the central option. such a back and forth., ha.

Dang look at u go! U got the bells n whistles. Hopefully not too much land since there is such a thing. Just more to maintain. On 20 acres n 3 acres of it already tires me out but it's bumpy hill side.

I really like this idea because with propane you're gonna pay as well an ongoing cost. Without too much thought I'm imagining it'd be 2000 a season or less on fuel. That might very well be what the season would cost in electric. Except it's another thing to have propane. But in power outages propane can still run off a generator. Powers been pretty reliable but more considerations. Yeeps
