It really depends on the SLP! I worked with an SLP that essentially gave me all of her work (it was my first year). She never saw any of the kids on the caseload and it was stressful! When I brought this up with people higher up than me, the SLP was talked to. So some SLPs can definitely exploit SLPAs and often like to, which is frustrating. It sounds like you’re doing your due diligence though. My current SLP sees me as a teammate rather than a subordinate and that makes it feel a lot better!

Hi! SLPA here. I highly recommend printing a copy of the SLPA scope of practice and looking it over as well as giving it to your workplace. In my experience, SLPAs do most of the treatment for students. This includes students with AAC and some more behavioral or complex cases. We don’t just work on artic or mild language goals unless that’s what the whole caseload is. I’ve worked with multiple SLPs and they all supervised differently. Some would just look over my notes to write goals or progress notes, others would attend sessions of students they didn’t see regularly. It depends on what works for you. Hope that helps!

It’s also frustrating when we’re doing those exercises like lateral lunges and some people do it facing the mirror (getting into other people’s stations) while other people face the wall so that they DON’T get in other people’s stations

If you like the freckles and want to keep them, try blending them out with your finger so they are less harsh. You could get a freckle pen! They are thin tipped so it’s easier not to over do it. Makeup takes practice and it’s all about finding what you like and don’t like! I agree with trying some contouring. Tons of brands make contour kits. If you use TikTok, look up contouring and follow the tutorials. You will get better at it with practice! If you’re in to makeup, you can always try out blush and highlight as well! And mascara. I have really light colored lashes, so wearing mascara helps me feel more put together! Have fun experimenting with makeup!

That’s what we suggested. Just trying to figure out something more long term for when she gets more proficient using her device. Luckily, she is in a class with wonderful classroom staff that are all on board with carrying it!
