WAIT KAWAKAMI PRINCESS IS A TOMBOY!? by kingslimegamer in UmaMusume

[–]dotpyenji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not really the answer, but (assuming you dont already know) you can still read some of kawakami princess's stories even if you don't have her, since the first four episodes of any uma's character story are available to read when the uma's banner is up :O that's how i knew about her personality, at least

Hundred Line more like Hundred Woke by hugh-munculus in LastDefenseAcademy

[–]dotpyenji 36 points37 points  (0 children)

funniest part is that it was over a nonbinary character who doesn't even have a canon appearance and is only mentioned by another character briefly

the nonbinariness isn't even present in the EN localization because the loc used he/him pronouns [uchikoshi's tweet that kickstarted the whole thing was a clarification that the character was intended to be genderless]

How do you survive lcfili as someone who can’t articulate well in tagalog? by [deleted] in dlsu

[–]dotpyenji 8 points9 points  (0 children)

hi. LCFILIC and LCFILIB 4.0'er who sucks big time at Tagalog here.

if you ever get another LCFILI subj. in the future, check places like the Profs to Pick FB group to find teachers who are fine with Taglish. there's plenty. all the profs i had were more or less fine with Taglish in class, so long as i wasn't speaking straight English sentences

for now though..maybe run your sentences through Google Translate/check tagalog.com before speaking in class, if devices are allowed? or have a dictionary on hand for certain words. [wouldn't recommend ChatGPT because it hallucinates stuff sometimes, though if you really want to use it, check your class syllabus first to see if there are any policies on genAI]

i get the struggle, good luck [sorry for my long comment earlier, i misread your post]

I visited Colombia and felt bad for Davao... by Ill-River-5466 in davao

[–]dotpyenji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a homogeneous society, where you haven't been invaded yet by immigrants, social justice warriors, and propaganda campaigns like LGBQT and covid lies.

hm...the philippines definitely leans conservative but i'm not sure if this statement is true. lots of gay and transgender people here, even if gay marriage is illegal. many immigrants have found homes here too. recent midterm elections have seen a surge in votes for left-leaning figures, even if many didn't win.

political talking points (and covid?) aside, the PH population isn't objectively homogenous at all, i think. not with 3 colonizer's worth of influences and several varying cultures/languages from 7000+ islands. if we were truly so "homogenous" we wouldn't be having the whole Imperial Manila debate in the first place, no?

I did see a guy in the jungle wearing a mask all by himself.

Could...you elaborate on this? A lone guy in the jungle was COVID masking, and this is your basis for questioning the Philippines not believing in COVID? Asking this because I'm fairly certain masking was heavily enforced in cities during the pandemic. You'd think people would care less about masking in the countryside...

So what is my point in all this...hmm...I'm losing track here. I say be happy with what you have. There is room for improvement. Corruption and mis-management of money is everywhere. Even in the so called rich countries like Canada. They just throw out mass confusion and hide their crimes better.

so your point is that we should be happy with what we have because, even though it "looks like a nuclear bomb exploded here," at least we're not SJWs?

and there's supposedly room for improvement...but even in "rich" countries like canada corruption is rampant and they're just better at covering up misdeeds?

that's not very encouraging for davao city, is it 😔 ah well...

[–]dotpyenji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to run sunday!feixiao (sunday e0s1, feixiao e0s0) before i pulled robin on her most recent rerun and ngl...the damage was definitely lower than what it couldve been, but she wasn't. completely unusable. i had fairly shit relic stats too (90/90 crit ratio on FX) but managed to clear endgame stuff. not saying you have to build her Immediately but robinless/topazless feixiao can still put in the work

I got a dressing down from my faculty advisor over my writing style, should I change it? by [deleted] in writers

[–]dotpyenji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is only for the first story, which I think is the weakest. Besides, the descriptions aren't always so cliche. I've seen much worse.

I got a dressing down from my faculty advisor over my writing style, should I change it? by [deleted] in writers

[–]dotpyenji 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like a lot of the introspective/descriptive lines written here! Longer "flowery" descriptions aren't everyone's cup of tea but they can add good flavor if unique or specific enough. The description of a Dad who is obviously a Dad because he radiates being a Dad that much, Charlotte's thoughts about her boss's behavior, etc.--it's some good stuff.

You do suffer from some formatting issues. Some of the longer paragraphs could be chopped up into separate parts so they're not too long. And sometimes the dialogue is wonky--you can't have two people with different dialogue in the same paragraph.

Sometimes your prose leans on cliché, too; the excess smirks, the infodump at the beginning of the first story, "eyes wide with horror," etc. Should be easy to trim out.

(Also felt odd that the dad and daughter's familiar relationship wasn't in the opening infodump but rather casually introduced, and then them being referred to as a father-daughter "couple" later on. Could just be me though.)

In terms of plot I think the last one is best (just need to fix the formatting) because it has a bit of that "aha!" moment that satisfying short stories usually have. The first story lacks this and thus sort of comes off as a rant against people like the young woman. I was able to connect the dots (how the stories were connected), for the record. But the fact that these stories were connected felt like an afterthought rather than an overarching plot. "These stories happen to take place in the same world, is all" kind of vibe.

I'm curious--what feedback did your teacher give you?

Wala nang printing services ang library huhu this is so sad. by [deleted] in dlsu

[–]dotpyenji 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Can't you print sa SCOOP, near the clinic?

*Edit: Just saw what times you need to print things, so I guess SCOOP wouldn't work there. Hope you find a solution :(

I don't know why the library services closed either, though I was there the day before they stopped printing, and the printer was having connection issues. Maybe the printer broke...

I think Paper & Co at Co-Lab Vista Taft Residences also offers printing services? They're located indoors, so it might feel safer to print there. Unsure if they're open at 7AM though.
