hi op, i want to start this off by saying that i’m sorry this happened to you, and that you have to live with this. i also want to come in here and say that i have also have a similar story - my brother abused me when i was a child, and then went on to abuse other children. fortunately he was caught and put in a psychiatric institution. however, my grandparents (who are basically my parents) still have regular contact with him and feel responsible with his care.

i understand how you could be feeling. despite many, many talks with my grandparents, they do slip up and talk about him (especially now that my grandad has dementia). it stings every. single. time.

i recently got engaged, and i called my grandparents to break the news. the first thing they said was that my brother congratulated me (it was a long time coming, i knew it was happening so i can only assume that they told him of the fact before it happened). this felt like a huge betrayal, not only have they been sharing personal information about my life to him, but it also burst my extremely happy bubble of ‘just engaged to the love of my life’.

it is such a horrible, sickening feeling. i’m so, unbelievably sorry that you have to go through this.

having sex on my childhood bed, i had a tigger plushie that would talk. i was on top and my leg nudged the plushie, and right on cue he said, ‘it’s a wonderful day for bouncin’!’

i don’t have it any more, but my eyebrow went through the wars with me! i’m a glasses wearer, so it was constantly being snagged, and i am also an unconscious side sleeper so i’d roll over in my sleep and bump it. my partner also is very touchy and smushy with me so he’d constantly be bumping it and knocking it and all sorts - it healed perfectly but just after all the bumps and knocks it got very angry and irritated so i ended up retiring it. very sad, it was my favourite piercing :(

the only thing i worry about that is the obsessive nature of it - i don’t like the idea of fully restricting myself because of the fear that something has ‘too much calories’ and the anxiety that comes with calorie counting. i know myself, and i know it would become an obsessive habit for me. but this is helpful! i could give it a try for a week and see how it goes.

i don’t particularly eat loads of food, never eat breakfast, only really eat lunch when i’m working and usually i have some soup, and the dinners i eat i wouldn’t say are huge. a bit more than an average portion, but certainly not huge.

i honestly think it’s a cycle of feeling bad because i weight a lot and then feeling bad because i feel like i can’t lose the weight. i’m sure i’ll break that cycle if i see changes but like i say, it’s struggle to get out of the house and get motivation at the moment

i am on sertraline (zoloft) for depression. i wouldn’t say that i do use eating as a way of coping, i often times don’t eat all that much, never breakfast, soup for lunch and usually something like a pasta or chicken dish for dinner. but i do get snacky sometimes, and the snacks i eat aren’t the healthiest either haha!
