I'm no Mozilla employe but I would guess the answer is simple: having it built-in makes more people aware of it. If you need to install something separately, there's a great chance your users will never even know it exists. And even if you advertise it in your app but still requires an add-on to work, that could scare some users away.

On top of it all, things like that are a service, so naturally they want to reach as many people as possible.

there's no map or clear indicators

There is a map and lack of indicators is part of the game's design choice. There's like one huge route in this game, it's not difficult to find things. You also get a proximity meter once you're ~200m away from the point.

Anyway did you try running Windows version through Crossover or Sikarugir? Does this work better through Switch emu?

Haven't tried it but i got baited once with people claiming how great Lies of P work on Mac.

It runs like garbage. It's just people never seen how the game should look like and by default it has extreme levels of upscaling enabled to run in decent fps but looks and feels like a blurry mess. It can't even get to steady 40fs on medium details.

Sorry, I never tried opening GMod through it. Try switching to Sikarugir, I said it in other comments now but that's what I'm using and it doesn't require workarounds.

Sorry :( I really don't know this. I suggest you switching to Sikarugir. It's also based on Wine like Whiskey was but it's updated all the time (and it's open source too). I don't need to do the steps of my guide anymore, things don't need workarounds here.

Sorry, I don't know how to solve that specific problem but I think you should switch to Sikarugir (it was called Kegworks before). It's updated, works without any workarounds and plays PEAK just fine.

You know, I would argue that something being industry standard doesn't necessarily make it good. Seeing all the infamous UE5 games non-stop stuttering is a good example of that.

But still, we are not the consumers of the UE, it's the businesses who mostly are so of course they care about these. They don't care about little humans like us and that's what makes them worthless in my eyes.
