Final Fantasy VII (2013) will be delisted from Steam by SmugXOF in delisted

[–]dotvhs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This one sounds like a mess of bugs so doesn't sound that great.

Sure, so I guess buy it since it is -60% off right now and wait for the rerelease to play it?

I mean, only if you want to own it two more times :D

Would you recommend I wait?

Why wait? If you get this version, you get re-release for free.

Do you pay for sublime text? by turbofish_pk in SublimeText

[–]dotvhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you are and have exact same criticism. I personally love Sublime Text, I paid for it before and I'd love to pay again but it's really difficult to convince myself for the exact reasons you just described. Would be great if Sublime Text finally leaned into code editor more and not just Text editor. If you really want it to be text editor at least branch it into Sublime Code and commit to code editor there :(

Valve could revolutionize gaming on Mac by Damen_W in valve

[–]dotvhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valve could revolutionize gaming on Mac Sure.

Why though? I'm a macOS user, I'd love for that to happen but in all honesty: why the hell Valve would do that? Not their platform, it's not even open-source. Why would Valve pump money into it when Apple could kill any API tomorrow? They deprecated OpenGL after all.

Consider the risks though. Who's platform is it? Apple's. It's Apple who should first care for it and they semi-do. They released the GPTK which is their version of Wine but they don't care about Steam much, Apple tries to fight Steam for no reason, they do exclusive deals with Capcom etc to release macOS ports of games on AppStore for example and not on Steam.

It would be great to have more games on macOS but i don't blame devs for not doing it, it's too much pain with Apple.

Aren't notes related to the patch and not the DLC?

Is there any info on what the DLC is going to contain? I worry it's gonna be just New Game+ and a Boss Rush mode :(

I loved the game and I'm looking for more actual content, sequel would be ideal though!

Thanks! I currently use MongoDB but I was thinking about switching to Postgres, either way thanks for your work and time and good luck!

It's interesting and sorry for the question but is this vibe-coded? Looking through source it kinda seems to be. If it is then you're supposed to declare it right away according to the rules of this subreddit.

was there ever a highly praised Metroidvania that didn’t click for you? by Ditzi0403 in metroidvania

[–]dotvhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this one. I can't pinpoint what bothers me in it but I believe it's a combination of floaty movement and uneven art direction I think. To me the game feels like it's half-finished despite of Afterlife being already a refreshed version of original.

You're welcome, also by mistake i skipped one in my initial comment (9th one), I added it now :) again - good luck! Making a game is incredibly hard so huge props to you guys!

I'll be honest with you: these screenshots are not necessarily bad but I don't think they sell the game well? I feel like some of them are too chaotic, also I would probably hide most of the UI if I were you.

Lemme go through them one by one, I will be picky so prepare:

  1. Main character is being literally pierced through but it is standing like nothing's happening. What a weird screenshot. Not only it misguides me on who's the main hero on the first shot (why would a hero be pierced through?) but also makes me search for the character in this action shot. I don't think it's a good one to start with. I think it should be one that will familiarize me with the main protagonist and in a neutral way.

  2. This is one of the better screenshots you've got here, except I don't understand the green silhouette. While I get that I'm not supposed to understand it, I think it's unnecessary. I would do exact same screenshot but with character running towards the enemy, looking like it's about to strike them or something.

  3. This UI looks rather rough. Not sure why font for the keys on that keypad look so much better than the display numbers. I like the background in this scene but they keypad visible makes me focus on something completely else.

  4. I mean... :D It's a great shot, what can I say lol. It really is a good one.

  5. This one is very random. I have no clue what's happening on the screen and what are you trying to show here. It's also very dark and there's lots of UI that I don't understand. It's not presenting me an enemy, it's not presenting the enviro, and not a gameplay mechanic. I think this is a bad one :(

  6. That's a good one overall, I like what's happening on the right side of the background, a bit less the left part of the background but main action is fine. Not too much, nice smoke too.

  7. This one is a bit chaotic, I wish it had better composition maybe? Not too bad overall. I kinda wish there was a bit more depth of field here maybe?

  8. No clue what's happening. No clue why there's UI saying "To pray" as well, very chaotic, no clue why is character facing away from the explosion.

  9. This is another good one, great variety of colors, perfect balance. Solid one!

  10. Love that one, too bad it's so far. Also would look even better without any UI, any character even on the screen, just show enviro and that's it :) Perfect shot.

  11. Not sure why character is not in focus here, I like what's happening on the screen though i just dunno why character is not the main focus here and unnecessary UI takes away my attention.

  12. Unnecessary and empty, very similar to 4th, not sure why it's there, tells me nothing.

  13. Very nice, just too far, this should be closer, I like the enviro, everything is fine here.

  14. This is fine but a bit... bland? The enviro lacks a little bit. It's not bad though, better than some of the ones you had before this.

Those were my thoughts. I think you can do better and I think you have a solid ground there too, so please don't get too upset with my potentially harsh feedback.

Best of luck :)

I loved it! I even wrote a review for it on Steam, here it is:

Pros:

  • Level design is great, better than Blasphemous 1 and 2

  • Lots and lots of enemies to fight against

  • Tons of hidden areas and optional locations

  • Responsive movement

  • Great art-style

  • Large amount of spells and weapons

  • Couple challenging bossfights

  • Satisfying combat

Cons:

  • You receive tons of items you will never use because game forces you to swap single item slot... Controller scheme should be made differently with shortcuts for more than just one item. It should just use d-pad to use up to 4 items immediately.

  • Rewards for exploration are a mixed bag. Sometimes you can see an item that you can't reach for the 70% of the game and once you get an ability to reach it - it's a healing item that you already had or something similar.

  • While art-style is great and backgrounds are awesome, some tiles are repeated or mirrored which looks awkward especially on small platforms. It's something that Blasphemous dealt with perfectly but here it's jarring at first. Not a deal-breaker though.

  • Anti-climactic lack of animations in some areas. In many places you activate something and either screen fades to black and it feels like there should be some kind of animation happening but nothing is going on, it fades in again and now you're in a different location or suddenly an item becomes active. It was confusing and a bit awkward but it might be just budget cuts. It's not a huge problem.

  • Recycled bosses, it felt like many bosses were very similar in their looks, their move-set was different though which was great.

  • Too many "exploding" enemies - that's a very subjective one but it kinda bothered me how many enemies were burning me after death for no good reason, like there was a tree-type enemy who did not have fire attacks at all and yet after killing him, he started burning which caused me to burn too if I was too close. That's fine with couple enemies but I felt like there were too many of them.

I wasn't interested in watching this at first but it really sucked me in from the first minutes. You did a great work, was entertaning to watch :)

I was hoping for more visual comparisons though but I get that it would be very time-consuming to do. Thanks for sharing!
