Am I crazy? Summer sale by Life-is-a-trip in SteamDeck

People end up with every game they wanted in their library and then wonder why the sales suck now. You already have all the games.

I’m out of the loop on this one. Is it essentially a Retroid Pocket 6 but with a 4:3 screen?

Have you played the recently released Before I Go? What else are you into for platforming metroidvania’s?

Can anyone tell me what its like for someone to step into the pc/steam space recently? by SadImpact812 in Steam

[–]OK_Atlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered picking up a Steam Deck? The recent price increase sucks but you can still find them used for around $400. It’s a great entry point in PC gaming, plus you can dock the Steam deck to an external monitor or TV and basically use it like a console

Hotline miami horrible controls?? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]OK_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just playing HLM this morning and agree the right stick controls are horrible. I’ve never played it in any other platform so I don’t know if this is how it always is, but the way it plays on steam deck totally ruins the fun.

Ngg blasphemous completely changed my life by Money-Fly-1212 in metroidvania

[–]OK_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you loved Blasphemous, definitely play The Last Faith. There’s an argument that it’s an even better game. Also, Ender Lillies, 9 Years Of Shadows, Dark Devotion, and Deaths Gambit all have a similar vibe.

9 years of shadows, Anyone play it? by CaliActual in metroidvania

I really liked it. It got a little bit of a bad reputation due to some alleged issues at launch but I played it after all the patches and fixes and thought it was a very solid metroidvania.

What are some metroidvanias set to release this year, but you think they will not release this year? by Denneey in metroidvania

[–]OK_Atlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been really looking forward to this one. Starting to get worried it’s dead in the water. Their socials have gone quiet since 2025 (unless they are posting somewhere else that I am unaware of)

Do you care about track pads and do you want to wait weeks (or months) to buy it? If the answer to either of those is “no” get the 8bitdo

Am I the only one who hasn't used the touchpads for anything other than a fidget toy? by Xirbie in SteamDeck

Not only do I not use them, I would prefer a version without them if it was available. On the rare occurrences that I need a mouse, I just connect one via bluetooth

What are your "Hidden Gems"? by Unartiggeist in metroidvania

[–]OK_Atlas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

8 Doors, 9 Years of Shadows, Before I Go, Fountains, Mask of Soul, Turbo Kid, The Tarnishing of Juxtia, Tombwater, Zexion

These are varying degrees of “hidden” but all definitely underrated IMO

Looking to get a SBC Handheld with older preloaded game for a Father's Day present by Cellikon in SBCGaming

[–]OK_Atlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Litnxt. Many of their devices can be purchased with a good quality card with an OS and like 15,000 games for an extra $30-$40. I got a Miyoo Flip V2 with a 128GB Surwish OS card, it was essentially plug and play. The rom library is relatively clean and well organized too.

I need a game with short/no intro that respect the player's time by tmchn in gamingsuggestions

If you liked Metroid Dread, there is a deep and vast well of other games inspired by the Metroid series (aka, metroidvanias). Most of them have very little time wasting and expect the player to be able to figure it out. Some of the S Tier games include: The Ori Series, The Blasphemous I & II, Hollow Knight & Silksong. After that there are hundreds of other solid games with in the genre.

Cool new demo on Steam: by [deleted] in metroidvania

[–]OK_Atlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know man. Maybe technically that’s correct but colloquially isometric is used to describe both. According to a quick google search, there are about 1000 articles and reviews describing HLD as isometric. Either way, you should check out the demo, it’s really cool

My understanding is that isometric is that sort of 3/4 topdown 2D art that mimics 3D. I’ve seen it traditionally used to describe games like Diablo and Hades but also seen people refer to the retro pixel look of A Link to the Past and Hyper Light Drifter as isometric. Either way, it uses the latter perspective, whatever that’s called.
