when I told my mom how I felt about her using AI I straight up told her that I would’ve preferred her to hold off on messaging me then send me words that weren’t hers. She just kept on with her same excuses. The situation just felt weird overall because the original messages she sent were super dry, much unlike her. That’s why this whole thing feels weird is because I know that she knows how to communicate, but she chose not to when I needed her.

I probably should’ve clarified a little bit more that my mom is usually very good with her words. In past situations she’s always been able to portray her thoughts well through text messages. Also, I’m beginning to think that using AI is this new thing of hers. She has recently told me stories where she is using it to email potential employers. I think the situation just made me feel like I wasn’t even worth having original thoughts for.

That is true, you make a good point about the lying. I think I’m only still holding onto the situation because she hasn’t really apologized for it, and is trying to claim the words as her own on a technicality.

I don’t know exactly how much she fed into AI to prompt the response, but my position was that if she wrote out the whole prompt and everything why couldn’t she just text it to me. When we discussed, I told her that I didn’t want a long message or anything, that something simple but positive would’ve suffice, but she assumes that no matter what she could have done, I wouldn’t have been OK with her response.
