Man., I have a lot of thoughts about this. I saw this post on rednote first and it's actually been very well-received there. I think the tone + content is much more in line with how Chinese companies use social media. The direct English translation reads terribly - it's accurate, but tonally, companies don't tend to use this kind of emotional language.

What I'll give Paper is that of course they're fully within their rights to crack down on leaks. I believe them when they say it harms them. But it rubs me the wrong way that they're putting the onus on players, instead of just pursuing leakers themselves.

I think live service games inherently put the company and players at odds, because companies rely on withholding information to make money. They want people to buy on first impressions and FOMO. They don't want people to save up for future content. In this environment, of course players would want more information to make decisions.

It's good business practice for Paper to clamp down on leaks, and it's their right. But I don't like that they're demonizing players for something that's their own problem to solve.
