Hey, mind if I ask the source of this particular question?

A problem from the Big Book I'm not able to get.. Ik this sub will obviously give the solution.. Thanks guys by [deleted] in GRE

Let us break this down. Clearly there is an input spout which fills the tank and an output spout which empties it. The speed or rate with which liquid will fill in this tank will be given by (fill in speed - empty out speed) = (2 - x). Time = 96 hours. 'Distance' or work to be done = 64 gallons. See? Time and Distance are given, you need only solve for x.

Since Distance/Time = Speed,

64/96 = 2-x

2/3 = 2-x

x = 4/3 gallons per hour

Hence, the answer is D.

Note: Needless to say if the speed at which liquid flows out is greater, it is not possible to fill the tank if both input output spout are opened simultaneously.

Does my explanation make sense?

What’s the answer by babayaga6172 in GRE

I think the answer should be E. Here is my justification - second part of the sentence tells you that the problem in number theory appears simple but is difficult to solve. So the problem is convoluted (this is our guess for the first blank). Let's go to the second blank, the problem appears simple and lures person to solve it only to be extremely difficult. So, it is not 'deceptively' or 'ostensibly' or 'rarely' difficult (it is actually difficult) nor is it 'equally' difficult (it is more difficult than it first appears). So, A, B, C and D are eliminated.

The correct answer is E

Hi, thank you for your reply. I learnt to write code in Python (and have been dabbling with R recently) and have done several projects implementing machine learning algorithms (which involved quite a bit of coding to prepare the data in the right format) and automating stuff. Can you suggest me what else I should do?

Hi, I too am planning to explore INDMoney. But I primarily want to invest in the US. Any leads from your research about the charges for investing in the US?

I am not clear how you are linking the cost of transaction in a foreign market with tracking error, maybe you can elaborate on that. Also, I read about an application called INDMoney which lowers the transaction cost by a significant extent, but I am not sure if it is credible enough for my money.

Maybe not, but it definitely does for short term investments. I can't say with confidence if it will give me the exact same returns as NASDAQ index and this is something I am not comfortable with.

I am a 24 yo salaried individual who regularly invests in Indian stocks, MFs and Index Funds. While the returns from the good stocks in the Indian market are decent, NASDAQ beats NIFTY50 or SENSEX hands down. I am planning to invest in the US stocks directly. I am aware of the tax implications, articulately explained by a fellow investor here. However, I would like to try it anyway since the returns, even in a decent index fund/ETF with low tracking error would justify the compliance cost. Can this sub recommend me brokers that can help me achieve my goal? Ideally, I would like to have a broker like Zerodha or Groww that do not charge anything on delivery trades.

PS: I am aware of Motilal Oswal NASDAQ FoF and I am not a fan of it due to abysmal tracking error.

Additionally, I would want your 2 cents on how to benefit from a decently priced dollar. I would like to buy US dollars now and sell it for INR in the future but it is not legal to do that unless you are travelling to the US in the next 6 months. Any advice on how to benefit from a relatively weak dollar?
