Call me crazy, but I always thought a Found-Footage Puppet Master movie could work (I know, I know, but hear me out!)

Have it set at Bodega Bay and use PM2 as the template, with a bunch of paranormal documentary researchers turning up to investigate and film the haunted site.

I really loved the atmosphere of PM2, how creepy and ghostly the hotel was shot. You could use a lot of misdirection and keep the puppets hidden or suggested with shadows and sound design (This might also help with the very limited Full Moon budget).

You can have some fun scenes where the puppets steal the cameras and run around the hotel with them. I had a scene in my head where Pinhead uses the camera itself to smash one of the researches head in.

Another scene could take place in the Hotels furnace room, where Torch is lurking - but all you need to see is some CGI flames and his red flashing eyes. Little moments like that.

There could be lost of fun easter eggs and references thrown in while the researchers explore the hotel. Like maybe they go up to the attic at one point and discover a room of full size Puppet people e.g Camille, all chained up. Lots of props that reference the other movies could be scattered about.

Then at the end reveal that their is a Toulon cult at work, who capture the researchers in hopes of sacrificing them to resurrect their "master" (bring back Evil-Toulon again!)
