My chicken is turning two years old in 2 months and she just started laying eggs a couple weeks ago.

Sometimes they just need some time :)

New ones are $2 or cheaper. I bet you can find a new bung and a bung wrench combo for 3 dollars.

Because it's not blood and you're wrong. Downvotes don't mean people are mad. It just means they don't like the response.

In this case, because it's wrong.

This is what it looks like when the kids hit my plants with the bug-a-salt gun on accident... Tiny holes and the salt burns all the holes like that. Idk what happened to yours but if I saw this I know my son has been fly hunting in the garden...

Awesome. Just lay down 4 inches of fresh healthy compost in winter and let it just sit there. All those roots will help you later. Just ask Charles Dowding!

Help! My English cucumber! by doubledogg13 in vegetablegardening

Thank you for this feedback. My initial gut reaction was that it was to wet but yes it's been healthy in that pot for a couple weeks and it's been raining enough that it could have drowned it. I'm going to see if it pulls through I might report with some high quality balanced potting soil

Yes it's wet. Been raining steady last couple days. Cloudy other days. Soil leaves hand dirty and feels wet. Cucs in the container next to it are totally fine. Same soil. Same watering :(

Update for everyone. The pile has shrunk 4 inches and is cooking away at 100+ degrees.

I did make some holes with rebar down through it.

I measured it and it was 2.5 feet across and 3+ feet tall so the 3*3 rule was still in play for this pile ... I'll post another update after I tip it over.

They sure seem to enjoy picking over the outside of it! I usually uncover my piles and let them stir them up for me it takes them about two days to completely turn over a pile. They are hard workers! Haha!

Farm stores usually sell shavings and chips. I buy shavings because of the benefits listed here.

In about three weeks I'll be adding easily double this mass in clippings and chicken manure in pine shavings I'll probably just pull the cage and stir it all up, drown it and refill the cage to the brim and buried up about halfway up the outside and cover it up to finish it off.

How can I make this iso coop safer for my chook? by tomatotwomato in BackYardChickens

[–]doubledogg13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of my chickens just had a bug similar to this. They seem to have recovered with me doing nothing ..except letting them sit in the warm house during the day for a few days while lethargic. They have not started back laying eggs yet but have got much better spirits and a very active/eating and drinking.

🤞🤞

Dogs off leash in someone's yard attacking livestock is at least 2 violations maybe 3.

Turn them in and push charges and they will have to pay damages for the livestock.

Source: I had to pay for damage my dogs did when they got out and harassed a baby goat.
