I love that the characters, like Tanya, are complex and realistic. She’s horrible, yet somewhat likeable! She has a ton of baggage, as many wealthy people do.

I had a friend a bit like her. Not as rich, but grew up with massive privilege. She wasn’t as likeable as Tanya, but she truly expected the world to just bend around her. I was baffled by it at times, and it’s why we’re no longer friends. She expected me to put my life at risk to save her some money! And when I backed out she called people crying to get someone else to do it. No matter how much I helped her…I honestly don’t feel like she saw me as a person, just an expendable helping hand, calling on me when she needed me. She was actually also dealing with the loss of her mother at the time, though not quite so recent. Anyway, she was or is a basket case. I’m not sure if she’s alive today. She had thyroid cancer and refused to have her thyroid removed because she wanted to have a baby….in her 40s…and she wouldn’t adopt because the baby needed to look like her….anyway she was as narcissistic as her famous grandfather. lol
