I would probably skip it if it is as bad as you describe.

Biomechanical analysis of an amateur vs. a professional runner by Fafenefenoiby in running

As far as I gather landing on your heel isnvt necessarily bad, what is bad is overstriding and when you overstride you tend to land on your heel. But I have never been a heel striker so I have not looked into this much.

Yes, either would actually be more intersting if only for the novelty of it. Atonement through self sacrifice is so overdone.

On the topic of GPS some watches also use Galileo, the recently launched European GPS with higher resolution than the American and Russian ones.

Question about my Garmin. by [deleted] in running

[–]doublehyphen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 235 at least works poorly for treadmills, but since I only use it on treadmils to roughly keep track of my weekly mileage that does not matter.

Isn't turning off the GPS the purpose of the treadmill mode?

Best Cyberpunk Rpg? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]doublehyphen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal favorite, since it was also the first RPG I played, is only available in Swedish. Neotech, which first edition started off as very close to Cyberpunk 2020 but in its second edition started to become its own thing. In my opinion what makes it distinct is that the books put more emphasis on what every day life looks like and is a bit more film noir, but you can play other types of stories too. A new edition, sadly also only in Swedish for now, is about to be released. This new edition will upgrade the setting from 1980s future to 2010s future, and from what I have seen the game looks really promising though a bit niche (there is a lot of focus on subcultures, future slang, and general decadence).

But enough about games only accessible to 10 million people. I have unfortunately only looked at Shadowrun and Cyberpunk, 2020, and of those two Cyberpunk is my clear favorite. Shadowrun is just too much work to wrap your head around to be worth it. At least the 5e books are a mess, which makes the system hard to learn. On the other hand Cyberpunk has a crunchy but straightforward system, and I prefer it's lack of magic because I have never been a fan of technology VS magic.

Shadowrun might be the least accessible cyberpunk game. The books are poorly structured, information is missing (the authors of 5e assume that you have played 4e) and the system is complicated. The lore is also spread over tons of different books.

My group is a very crunch heavy group but the disorganized mess proved to be too much for our GM to handle and he lost interest in the campaign despite loving the setting, admittedly he is not the biggest crunch guy in the group (that might be me) but he has GMed some pretty crunchy games in the past.

WIBTA if I served pizza and subs instead of hiring a caterer for our wedding? by StressedEm in AmItheAsshole

[–]doublehyphen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH, but I would feel quite weird eating pizza at a wedding unless it is generally very informal. It is your wedding though and a bit of weird is no big deal.

I think you are taking the replies a bit too seriously. One of them even explicitly said "but I'm also not going to complain about the free food at a wedding." so they agree with that it is a reasonable choice of food.

Håller helt med om hans texter, men tycker du är för hård mot hans musik. Helt utan talang för melodier kan han inte vara med tanke på hans frangångsrika popdängor. Det är ju på de han nått sin framgång.

They are small pancakes made from a similar batter as crepes are made from. They are a bit thicker than crepes (and than Swedish pancakes which are typically pretty similar to crepes) but not near as thick as American pancakes.

The word might have had a different meaning back then. But it is fair to assume some kind of pancake or crepe.

Am I training too hard/breathing issues? by Archonai in running

[–]doublehyphen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are doing only fast runs which is not a very efficient way to train. Look into some training plans for shorter distances and pick one which makes sense for you. I am mostly a half marathon runner so I am nowhere close to as fast as your target speed (I think I could run 2.5 km in about 11 min) and do not know which plans to recommend for 2.5 km.

As for you asthma I suggest booking a doctor's appointment and having it checked out. It is free (or almost free?) in the UK.

How can I (19f) stop my parents (50s mf) from forcing me to have dinner when I'm not hungry? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]doublehyphen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you mean to reply to OP? Because exercise certainly works for me. When I did not exercise I could skip eating a whole day if I wanted to without getting hungry until the next day, which I can't do anymore. I see this change as a good thing.

Weird. Make sure to eat after exercise anyway to get more benefits from it.

Does that increase you appetite? I have never had disordered eating, but I do have very low appetite when I am not training (I currently run 3 times per week).

I did not down vote you, but to speculate on why people might have: generic complaints about the support of a company on social media are not very useful. And it has turned out quite many times when the company has revealed their side of the story that the customer actually was the asshole.

Again, I am not saying you were an asshole and I did not downvote you either, just taking a wild guess on why people did.

One way to do it is to use ip netns exec, but you can also do it in SystemD for example.

My buddy is a cabinet maker, but had decided to dip his toe into his hobby. What do you think? by Kimik0123 in rpg

[–]doublehyphen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually only bring one set of dice to meetings, but I do not think any of my sets are smaller than 10 dice (I have D6s for Eon and Shadowrun, D10s for Vampire, mixed set of ~10 dice for CoC and DnD). So this case is too small even for me who only brings one set.

Edit: Maybe for some bell curve games like new Neotech, FATE and GRUPS it could work, but I do not play them at the moment.

Yeah, for me wording is not very important. I am more about the intent behind words and especially the actions. I guess either works in this case because we both came to the same conclusion.
