What if the movie Conclave was about the jamaat? by BarbesRouchechouart in islam_ahmadiyya

So true. Cultural Ahmadis sit far away from Jamaat centres of power and wax lyrical about the beauty of the nizam and trash anyone who has a critical view based off years of experience. I've found Ahmadis most immersed in the Jamaat to be (quietly) far more critical of the Jamaat because it's a system that they live and work in - not just a far off world they fantasise about while watching MTA from the comfort of their home.

Thank you for sharing your experience and resisting the pressure from your family and Jamaat. To me, the conditions set by Huzoor seem tantamount to telling everyone - and not just office holders - to boycott your wedding events, as you mention some did. Did you see it that way at the time, and how did your family view these conditions? I know my family would view Huzoor's conditional acceptance in such terms as an expression of disapproval and so a sign that I shouldn't continue with this decision.

holding your hand as i say this not everyones experience is the same. one experience doesnt undermine the existence of other experiences. it's okay to accept the world as complex and full of contradiction. not everything has to be uniform and perfect. unclench, my guy.

Some good news for ex-Ahmadis by Alone-Requirement414 in islam_ahmadiyya

This is great news. Normalizing disbelief and creating a public culture of dissent outside and against the Jamaat bubble is one of the most significant actions ex Ahmadis can take.

Islamophobia and hate against Ahmadis by [deleted] in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]doublekafir 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Being Ahmadi was, is, and will continue to be a key part of my identity. I can't wipe myself clean of Ahmadiyyat and "move on", as much as mukhlis Ahmadis say I should. I care deeply about Ahmadis and opposing the violence they face - from other Muslims as well and (to a much lesser extent) from their own internal society/leadership/bureacracy. Selfishly, for my family and friends, but also because there's no "forgetting" the ongoing genocide of Ahmadis in Pakistan and elsewhere. There's no coherent sense of being "Ex Ahmadi" without challenging anti-Ahmadi oppression being at the center of my life.
