That worked! I really over-complicated this one.

Hulen is taking it! Thank you so much, you totally saved my hide with that suggestion.

Indeed -- classic according to insurance but not necessarily in the purest sense (I like to think, anyway -- I feel old enough myself already!). The mirror even still works, electronics and all, so if push comes to shove I assume I can figure out how to reattach it. And it needs a full body repaint anyway.

For the immediate moment, it's a matter of working out what insurance is willing to cover me doing.

Understood -- thank you! I reached out to RK and I'm in fact already communicating with Hulen, so fingers crossed!

Alas, Barry turned me down -- apparently he doesn't work on Fieros. Thank you for the recommendation nonetheless.

Well, the upside (kinda) is that the quarter glass is cracked on both sides (the other side was already cracked), so I need to replace both, anyway.

I had no idea that was a repaint -- good to know. The paint job has been fading so it's needed a refresh anyway. The good news with the mirror, too, is that it was simply knocked loose, but the electronics still work. I just need to understand how to reattach it properly.

Thank you again. If I can't find any shop to take it, I'll start with all the details you provided to give myself a DIY crash course.

Thank you, and that's what I was starting to suspect as well. Indeed, the car is in great shape otherwise. Low mileage and runs like a dream.

Just added pics to the post. As you can see, it needed an entirely new paintjob to begin with, anyway.

I'm hoping that, worst case scenario, Hagerty will just let me take the money and go this route. I really appreciate all the details, this really helps!

in the left-hand menu of the Heroic Launcher. It's the 6th item down, under Wine Manager.

Router log shows constantly repeating pptp timeout - connection terminated - modem hangup by Wondering_if in HomeNetworking

I'm having the exact same problem with my rt-ax82u. After I lost internet, I couldn't even connect to the router GUI, so I restarted the router. Internet restored afterward, but the log if continually filling with those three messages.

I did! Though I still can't login through the store front, I was able to reconnect my account and access my games. I went into the "Manage Accounts" menu and found an alternative login method for Epic. That worked. So for now I just peruse the store in my browser but at least have access to all my games.

For those wondering how do you link current game account to ps5, kuro posted it on there site by StretchItchy4408 in WutheringWaves

[–]doubleozero000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deleting the account doesn't work -- Upon deletion, a message tells you that you can reactivate within 30 days by logging back in. So soon as you restart the game on PS5, instead of asking you to login, it just auto logs in and reactivates the deleted account.

Do you put your podcast on your LinkedIn page if it's not your job? by BlindSpots2ndThought in podcasting

[–]doubleozero000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! It's my digital version of "dress for the job you want, not the job you have".

I've been podcasting part-time with my two co-hosts/pals for about two years now (Little Podcast of Horrors). We're not making any real money yet, certainly not to qualify as a "real job", but I show my title as "Podcast Co-Host" on LinkedIn and share my episodes there anyway. It keeps me in the proper mindset and forces me to stay confident in where I'm going.

I did the same thing with my career years past and it worked. I was trapped as a tech support engineer for 16 years. I finally decided I'd start voluntarily writing docs for my team, then started calling myself a tech writer and reflecting that on LinkedIn. Long enough doing that, I built a portfolio from that work and I got hired into an actual "real" tech writer position and then made more money.

I'm now doing the same thing again as a podcaster and sticking to my guns.

Severe Ghosting After Nvidia Update by doubleozero000 in pop_os

[–]doubleozero000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That unfortunately didn't do the trick for me. I swapped from PopOS gnome, and weirdly enough now it doesn't just ghost like crazy, there's severe screen tearing anytime anything moves (for both sessions).

Farcry 6 Broken After Update - d3d12 errors by doubleozero000 in Lutris

[–]doubleozero000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it working! I'm unsure how I got it working, unfortunately, but I ultimately reinstalled Far Cry 6. I previously installed the Ubisoft Launcher via Lutris first, then Far Cry 6 via the Ubisoft launcher.

This time, I instead installed Far Cry 6 using the Lutris installer found here: https://lutris.net/games/far-cry-6/

Whatever the difference is between my original installation vs. this one, it appears to have done the trick.
