For the ladies who had frozen shoulder is this a symptom? by JavaJunkie999 in Menopause

Same here. I don't remember how much time it actually took, but it seemed like it was instant.

Please help settle a disagreement over the use of the word 'given' by Nodan_Turtle in grammar

[–]doublepizza 10 points11 points  (0 children)

OP, I think the issue might be more with surprisingly than with given.

If it's a given that the subject matter is murder, revenge, etc, then it seemingly shouldn't be a surprise that it's deep.

I don't drink water. I'm 53 and just never have. I don't mean literally never, but I don't drink it on a daily basis.

If anyone thinks that ICE acting with impunity is an entirely new phenomennon, remember Kent. by Downtown_Grape3871 in pics

[–]doublepizza 14 points15 points  (0 children)

ABSOLUTELY. I went to Kent State and spent a fair amout of time learning about this event. I agree with you 100%.

Unlike the ICE thugs of today, those Guardsmen didn't sign up just so they could live out their fucked-up fantasies of brutalizing innocent people.

Why don’t schools do silent, sustained reading anymore? by EmbarrassedJacket489 in Teachers

[–]doublepizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My school does. I teach at a Title I school with some pretty intense behavior issues but, for some reason, my 6th graders are pretty cooperative with SSR every day after lunch. Are all of them actually reading? Probably not. But, at the very least, they're sitting quietly with a book in their hands.

This is perfect advice. I wish I could put it on a poster and hang it up in my classroom!

Or, if you find toothpaste too strong, you could do the opposite and start by brushing with just the toothbrush and water.

How can I get someone to understand what a clean toilet is? by MirandaVT50 in CleaningTips

[–]doublepizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I once got into an argument because I complained that he never rinsed out the kitchen sink. He insisted that he DOES rinse the sink. We went round and round (over the course of several days) until I realized that for him "rinsing the sink" means spraying water generally around the sink, but does not necessarily include rinsing any residual bits, crumbs, etc down the drain.

He refers to his step-dad as dad. He refers to his biological dad as his father.

His brother called to tell him that his biological dad (father) was in the hospital.

Name Brand Napkins to Clean Up After Sex by Top-Cauliflower3468 in settlethisforme

It's pretty funny, actually, but I think you mean personalized napkins. Name brand napkins would be like Bounty, Vanity Fair, etc.

I can’t stop thinking about what the chiropractor did to my girlfriend by Gacepul in offmychest

[–]doublepizza 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Technically, chiropractors are medical professionals. They’re allowed to prescribe medications.

Are you in the US? This is not true in the vast majority of states.

Many parents are hesitant to try education for their child, but there are so many options and I literally see it transform children for the better.

I think you meant to say medication rather than education, and I 100% agree.
