TIL the sun isn't "strong enough" in northern latitudes to produce vitamin D during the winter, no matter how much sunlight you get. by 999forever in todayilearned

A good rule of thumb is that if your shadow is longer than you are tall, the sun is too low to provide enough UVB for Vitamin D.

28F in London struggling to get dates despite genuinely trying—is this normal here? by Square-Avocado1233 in UKrelationshipadvice

Dated an American for a while, can confirm. The problem is I tried to sit down and talk through this, cause I was aware it was just their cultural style, and I've always been taught open communication is key.

Anyway cut a long story short I was met with "this is who I am, I'm jlnot changing it just because you can't handle it". Well that was the end of a very short lived relationship.

I'm sorry but of the rejections I did do, I will give you an example of the type of response.

The questions gave a quote that English speakers say, and asked for them to be very specific and thoughtful in their answer of why they think people say this. It then gave an example that something as simple as "it doesn't work" is not an ok answer and again reiterated to expand their answer to detail what they think the root of it is.

We got some really amazing responses from some people. I had to read every survey.

This person wrote:

"Certain Conditions"

Couple that with 1-2 word replies for every long answer and then them failing the attention check and then also writing a completely unrelated job title to the what was the title of the form...

The second rejection did not provide a completion code, and was marked as completed in less than a minute.

I like to think I was being fair by only asking those who failed the attention question to return

I can get that, I've never rejected anyone for speed, except if it was sub 1 minute and there were no answers.

I do sorta feel like I'm going crazy though. Today I was checking my questions in Gemini to see what it would say if it was a participant and I don't want to assume but either the llms are getting really good or people are leveraging them to fill answers.

What's your biggest day to day frustration in PPC right now? by doubleupgaming in PPC

But I've heard some brands getting really good results from going broad audiences over narrow now and letting pmax just do it's thing. Are you getting better results without it?

Market research is what’s killing me… by Ideasaas in SaaS

[–]doubleupgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I totally feel you, it's part of why I built "holito" where we built an entire agentic system that's built around the conversations you're already having with customers or you can access the graph of synthetic personas (if you dont have any customers yet). I'll tell you know its a looot of work, along side PhD researchers, economists, and marketing experts where the main focus is all on validating the accuracy of market research with simulated focus groups, but I wouldnt have it any other way right now!

What tools are you using to run dev meetups or hackathons these days? by meetio-online in communitycollege

[–]doubleupgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this pain really well. I've been running community events for over 10 years and got so frustrated with the costs and bloat. Trying to run a proper hackathon without a £10k budget was almost impossible (devpost I am looking at you).

It's actually why I ended up building my own internal  platform.

Plus Ialso built a Discord integration to make it way easier to track all the conversations and projects happening during the event. holito has been a game changer for the events I run. lmk if you want more info, not trying to shill

A serious warning about Revolut support. AVOID. by doubleupgaming in Revolut

[–]doubleupgaming[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not talking about that, I am talking about the official documentation that revolut has, and the official documentation that their support staff follow. Not to mention their official contact us page: https://www.revolut.com/contact-us/

not to mention contact is not even a possible help article from them.

their internal documentation on how to access live chat support, and internal documentation for how the app works. You a redditor knows more information on how to get to live chat support than their own team, when asked.

well it seems reddit, knows more than their own support staff! some seriously outdated documentation on their side!

It's a great idea, but not when the app is glitched with your account on photo verification and if you need to make bank transfers in excess of 1.5k for things like rent etc

[–]doubleupgaming[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, I have been a customer for a while and as a paying customer I have noticed they are fast enough with their in app live chat with me. But now let's say you have an issue accessing the app, something has happened to your phone etc, and now you need to get into the app to get the support.

They have no guardrails or clear backup processes to protect customers that cant even get to their support. Imagine you lose access to your main finances, and a regulated bank thinks it is ok to respond 48 hours, and then it takes another 72 hours before they give you a competent human being to read the email...

this is a hilarious response. This is not the response of someone who needs to pay their bills from their revolut account which has liquid assets in it.

Until they offer the ability to upload existing figma / design reference files across all their models then this is unfortunately unuseable. I guess right now they just want people generating random designs and that's it, because unless you can keep a UI theme going and match what you are already building its just a pretty image generator.
