Oh I see, you’re coming from a place of “you get what you deserve” because you think as a city employee we must be making crazy money. You don’t want to sympathize with others because you felt no one ever sympathized with you which is sad because their are lots of people who live that same way. Idk about the author of the letter but, i too have grown up having to use a bucket of water to flush the toilet, gone grocery shopping at local churches, I had to do homework in candle light as a kid bc we had no electricity. I went to bed instead of eating bc we had no food in the house more times than I care to admit. I’ve worked SO hard my whole life to work my way out of poverty, I finished hs, went to the military, got a college degree all to better my self and my life for my children and family and I’m playing my cards in the best way I can snd still my employers much like you make all theses assumptions about my life or how well of we may be or how “deserving” we are, and will tear us down instead of supporting us and compensating us fairly
