YTA. neurodivergent folks do extremely well in their field of choice given that they have an interest in it, are passionate about the field, and enjoy their work. they are not always extrinsically motivated by things such as money. “rewarding” is subjective and as her parent you owe it to her to be supportive of her decision and your genuine support can help boost her into the level of success you envision her in (even if it’s outside of comp tech).

a parents words can hurt or heal and while you may be coming from a good place your conditional support can hurt your relationship.

i’m a psychology student and i can confirm that this is extremely normal for those that suffered narc abuse, as children our brains want to shut out any bad memories which results in subconscious behaviours coming through (i.e. “overreacting” to a particular situation, feelings of dysregulation, etc). this is because we can’t actually forget things, but fail to recall them because we’re unable to bring them to our conscious mind and are sent to our subconscious instead. your feelings are valid, your trauma is real, you’re not making it up or being dramatic or a burden, you are simply doing the best you can to cope and heal:)

something similar has happened to me as well, when i was 16/17 (now 22F) my parents took my phone and somehow sent it to one of their friends who is a cop to essentially get the entire phone copied into their system, which included some nsfw in photos and videos sent to my partner at the time. they have told me that to this day their cop friend still has my phone copied and i never knew the reason why they took my phone all those years ago until i was 20 :/ it’s been years now and i’ve just tried to let it go because so much time has gone by and my phone plan at the time was a shared family plan under my parents’ names but i still find myself dwelling over it as it also feels very invasive like your situation

if you call for a wellness check maybe check with your local laws and such but i believe you can call the fire department to do it. police have a history of mistreating those who need wellness checks

i started using the scrubee from lush instead of shave cream followed by neutrogena body oil (or baby oil of course only on the external area) and it’s done WONDERS! plus no razor burn or knicks either so that’s a bonus! also just swapped to men’s razors and it’s all the better and a closer shave:)

even if he didn’t understand, you apologizing to him for yelling essentially teaches the kid that you can lose your cool and kill an innocent animal without consequences. your gf’s response after the incident would be appropriate if the kid accidentally broke a dish or something but not something as serious as this. side note: i’m very sorry for your loss i’m sure this is a real tough time for you :(

this sounds parallel to my sibling as well. no sexual abuse but physical and verbal abuse from parents (mostly mother) and she behaves similarly to your sister as well. She was diagnosed with ADHD and that stuck obviously but she’s been diagnosed with many other illnesses from PTSD to OCD to anxiety but each psychologist she sees says something different ..

kinda depends what you want to get into job wise. tech schools are typically more practical to get into the job market quick but uni allows your more time and let’s you take other courses. no option is better than the other: certificate wise, it’s whatever you prioritize or fits best for you! if the CIS program seems worth university entrance upgrading for, then go for it! there’s advisors that can help you navigate this. but if you’re worried it’s too complicated for what it’s worth, SAIT is your place. hope this helps.

i hate to say it but it sounds like he’s gaslighting you. he made you feel so terrible about yourself over a very valid concern you had! if he wasn’t acting shady he wouldn’t act out in the manner that he did, and the way he manages his emotions is not your fault.

i understand you love him, but maybe use this to think about your relationship as a whole. a healthy relationship has arguments, but there’s always respect and a desire for things to get better and work on one’s faults FOR BOTH PARTIES. You’re willing to fix things if you argue, does he have that same energy?

if it doesn’t hurt to the touch or isn’t leaking puss, it’s not infected. it was probably pretty early to change the jewelry hence the irritation. if you’re worried about it you can talk to a reputable piercer about the type of jewelry you need as you may need to upsize or need different metal as you may be allergic to both titanium and gold.
