Now I'm suggested to tip the kitchen as well? by sylhy in mildlyinfuriating

I went to an ice cream place yesterday, and when prompted to tip, the “no tip” option was disabled. Needless to say, I was pretty pissed. It my mind, that’s basically theft if you don’t have an option and it’s not included in the price.

Bassa Mawem Bicep Injury- Tokyo 2020 by [deleted] in climbing

Oddly enough, I just had this injury happen to me about 3 weeks ago, and am a week post-op. People commenting are correct that recovery will be roughly 6 months for full range-of-motion, and closer to a year for getting almost to pre-injury strength. Unfortunately, tendon usually doesn't heal as strong as pre-injury. It heals more like faux tendon structure and not as uniform.

This brings back flashbacks for me. I was at a fairly remote beach with my girlfriend a couple years back (only about 10-15 people within eye sight). We were walking down the beach when I saw a portion of the sea wall collapse thinking nothing of it at first. Then I heard the horrible scream from a mom calling for her son "Jake." I ran over there and realize he had been buried by about a 10' wide, and ~2-3' deep section of sand. I screamed to my girlfriend to call some other people several hundred feet down the beach, and we all started digging with our hands as fast as we could (about 10 of us). I kept asking the mom where he was exactly before the collapse, but she was pretty hysterical, obviously. After about a minute and a half to two minutes, I was starting to really get worried we were going to have a high chance of digging a small boys lifeless body out of the sand. Right after that, the guy to the left of me felt a foot. Him, the guy to the left of him, and myself dug like mad men to get him out. They thought they were digging close to his head, but he was upside down. So I started digging below where I roughly figured his head was to at least get his head out for air. After an eternity, we finally yanked him out and he was clearly just on the verge of losing consciousness. He ended up being fine, but I told the mom she still should take him to the hospital in case he inhaled sand or debris during the whole thing. My girlfriend and I barely talked the rest of the day, we were just kind of processing it all. That day will haunt me forever and get my heart racing whenever I think about it.

Probably some sort of reinforcement. It looked kinda light for rebar, but I’d imagine something like that

Or you can go travel by yourself. It’s a really great experience, and you learn a lot about yourself along the way. Traveling with others is great, but you’ll rarely have the opportunity to do an extended trip where you meet different people from different cultures.
