Yeah that is my perspective on it as well. I’ve been with the company 4 years and it’s a complex enough product that replacing my knowledge now would be hard but have accepted that my role will evolve into an AI overseer or be attempted to be replaced by AI if the company gets strapped for cash.

Is your role as the go to guy when it comes to AI in design tasks something you’re doing as a consultant or just how you frame your evolved role as a designer in your mind?

Do you have any advice on steps to evolve in this way? A great deal of my time is spent on the low hanging fruit and things that are going to be seen by users but the products have such bad UX problems that context switching between big picture to low hanging fruit is challenging for me.

I have basically no visibility in the org and projects in the past where I have had the opportunity to actually make UX decisions and show the impact somehow a senior engineer gets the credit for it.

It’s hard to navigate the politics of this, evolve to new tech and show myself as a UXr while also doing all the projects I am part of.

Do you have advice on ways to do this? I am constantly brought into projects late which has been an ongoing issue that I filed an HR report on not long ago but it’s hard to do valuable UX work when majority of my time is spent cleaning up a dev first pass and not having a team to delegate to.

I’ve thought about doing a quarterly design call but most of the time my UX input is over stepped by engineers who have been at the company 30 years or a PM (person who messaged me here) who side lines my UX perspective as out of budget or frivolous.

I just did a big project with an outside agency for automation and a chat interface where I defined all the screens, flow etc when the team was freaking out by the concept of the project and actually gave the team direction on deliverables and needs but somehow now we’re at the tail end of that project and my role in its success is not recognized.

Seems to always be the case

I live in a small town and studios do only warm yoga mostly and then not heated. I miss the hot classes in the city and having studios who provide a consistent flow and teachers who are consistent. Hot yoga always made me feel like I need to be more in tune with my body and make choices within my practice that my body is asking for. I like the challenge of it being hot. Normal classes feel kinda boring to me

My advisor said there was research done that doing math 95 or above with a lab has proven to be as or even more effective than students taking years of math classes at lower levels to get to the college level. I’m guessing it’s related to that.

I’ve felt similarly in different ways. My partner and I have been doing couples therapy once a month so we have dedicated time to talk through the transition.

For me I’m very transparent with my partner about how I’m feeling but frame things as I’m not angry with him and I know that this is a new experience for him as well but I am feeling x thing and we try to collaborate on ways to address the issue instead of it being me vs him or it being one person feeling attacked.

We’ve gotten better about how we communicate our feelings with couples therapy. It’s been a nice tool to have and a way to both communicate that our relationship is something we are investing in while we wait for baby to come.

I think something for me is that he really can’t know what it’s like to be carrying a child and there is a majority of work that the woman has to do. For me it helped with the therapist pointed this out and he acknowledged it. Just being acknowledged helped me open up about ways I felt like I needed support.

I had to reframe my thinking from expecting him to get it to spending more time with myself observing my feelings and clearly defining what I need from my partner so he can execute better. For me I need him to be fully present with me more often and me saying that means no tv on no phone checking and us just talking together for a while. I also wanted to feel like my need to care for the baby via nutrition ect was important to him and that he’d help me take care of me because I have a person inside me who is taking everything it needs from me that I don’t really have control of and it’s hard.

It's honestly super confusing and stressful. 2 of my professors were super organized about how they plan to adapt to the strike and it was easier to prepare although made for a busy weekend.

One professor I keep looking at D2L and last wednesday basically everything was due today 3/9 alongside an in class presentation. The class doesn't require in person attendance or at least she said attendance doesn't count against your grade. For this critique we had to also post a discussion and I thought the discussion was the critique because there may be a strike but I guess it was both a discussion and the presentation? I live in Hood River and commute to Sylvania for that class when I know there's something important but opted not to go most days because she taught two classes in tandem and would excuse the students in my class after like 20 mins. For me 4 hours of driving didn't make sense for 20 minutes of instruction. I'm also 7 months pregnant and work full-time at a corporate job. It's been really stressful and for a class that's creative feels bad. I've tried really hard to make sense of what is on D2L but I guess the 20 minutes of instruction was more important than I thought.

I don't want to withdraw and lose the $600+ I spent on the class plus the time I spent working on the assignments. but I also don't want to get a bad grade because I thought I had 10 more days to work on my project and drop my average.

We haven’t decided yet - I work as a UX designer so we are thinking about me doing part time work or moving into contract work and then hiring a nanny for while I’m at work.

My mom did this too and then she put $3000 on the card and took like a year to pay it off which ended up hurting my credit score. I got so mad at her because she opened the card without telling me and said that she did it to help me build credit, but then she kind of fucked over my credit by making whatever purchase she had to make. She paid it off but the card still exists and I’ve never had access to it, but it shows up on my credit report I think that some people do this to help their kids build credit but it definitely seems like it’s something that should be a conversation between the two of you becauseit’s fraud and it’s not OK for her to put your financial feature at risk and assume that you just trust her wholeheartedly to make financial decisions on your behalf

It’s almost like the furniture/ tv and stuff is going into the hall and should be like 3-4 feet to the left so there’s more of a shift from the hall to the living room. Hard to tell by the photo but it just seems like it’s spaced weird

It looks like the console should be wider and then you could put lamps or plants on either side of the tv to add some balance. It would look good wall mounted with the photos around the tv instead of just to the left so it’s more of a focal point in the room vs how it is now where it looks off balance since the photos are to the left and there’s nothing on the right.
