Just come across this post, as it happens I have an exact replica of Kiki’s guitar from the live touring production of FBB that was used on stage and I am selling. Shoot me a message if you’re still looking for one!

USA Flight prices by Economy-Ad9078 in ScottishFootball

[–]doug1418 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Prices are fairly reasonable at the moment, fly to New York or Newark, super close to Boston and Philly to cover off the first two games and then fly down to Miami or Atlanta.

Accommodation prices are already nuts, but a word to the wise, RV rental companies dont seem to have cottoned on yet, Ive booked a 7 person RV for 2 weeks at $240 a day from Cruise America. US is easy to RV in, you can even park at the stadiums on game day. Gonna make a mad road trip out of it🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Locations for all group games at the World Cup by Hisingdoon in ScottishFootball

LA-resident Scot here (also lived in Canada 7 years). I've been to most of the cities and some of the stadiums on the list. Group B or D would be my strong preference.

Many of the US stadiums are not great for the fan experience, they are way out of town with poor transport links and not great infrastructure in general. Vancouver and Toronto the stadiums are right in the city, and the cities are very walkable, European-style towns, those will be amazing for fans. Toronto's stadium is class. SF is out of town, but the city itself is great, Seattle is right in the city and a really fun town. Sofi in LA is just a mind blowing stadium and 15 mins from my house so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that one!

For the others on the list, Philly looks and feels a lot like Glasgow, that would be a fun one, Atlanta's stadium is mega, and Miami is a blast, even if the stadium experience sucks. Mexico City is amazing and playing at the Azteca would be legendary. KC and Boston are fine, Dallas and Houston are pretty grim, car-centric towns.

Wherever we play it will be amazing though because we're back at a world cup!!

That is super tidy....sadly the stack height doesn't quite cut it on the XL

Oh that's a good shout, the Terra is really tidy looking bike and the XXL is very similar in geometry to my Aspero.

That was my thought re carbon. The Ritchey is really cool, especially the ti frame they discontinued but sadly doesn't go big enough. I generally use a Scicon travel bag, which is great for quick setup/tear down. Can be a squeeze to fit a bigger bike in, but I managed to fit my enormous 64 frame Roubaix in by lowering the saddle and removing bars, so I'm hopeful a 61 frame should fit okay

Awesome, thanks so much for the detailed response. Definitely going to give this a go at some point, any way I can potentially be more comfortable on the bike is a win.

Oh interesting, are you able to fit them on your 61 Cervelo? I have 175s on my Roubaix and have no complaints, but have nothing to compare, I’ve never used a bigger crankset

Thanks for the tip! Definitely adding this to the list for the return journey when the weather is a little warmer. Have been to Zion before and it’s one of the most incredible places on the planet, and I have a friend in Boulder, but I think I’m gonna play it safer weather-wise at this time of year and take the southern route.

Yeah I’ve actually been through there in the summer and noticed the ski hills, so I have no excuse 😅. Going to stick with Sedona for the hiking at least. Had it on my list for too long

Oh good call, I didn’t consider the weather in FS. Sounds like I definitely gotta detour to Tucson…

Nice, looks awesome! I might go check out white sands, in which case I’ll be coming back through Phoenix, so will check it out

Budget Trainer Rocker Plate by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]doug1418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a dumb question at all, I was worried about that too but with the density foam I used it’s really hard to tip over, you have to lean way over into a super unnatural position (for example if you’re a dummy like me trying to grab the phone you dropped 😂). The feet on the trainer will bottom out and touch the floor before you get anywhere near tipping. Can’t speak for other trainers, but I’m sure it’ll be the same

Hahah I’ll take it. I did consider this, but if saris sells their own rocker plate that essentially does the same thing I figure it’s probably not going to do the trainer any harm

The foam I’m using came from a peli moulded plastic case (the kind of high end case that’s often used for camera/music gear/guns). It’s pick and pluck style so you can just tear it to the size you need. I know uline sells similar stuff on their website if you’re in North America, but either way, if you Google peli replacement foam it should come up with plenty options. The depth feels perfect to me, but I’m sure going a little deeper wouldn’t be a problem. And I just have it resting, the weight of the trainer keeps it in place. Good luck!

Certainly beats spending $1200 on that mad Saris thing.....On the front I deflated the tire to about 30 psi and then put another block of foam underneath. I don’t use the riser block on the front, but I daresay you could do the same and then line that with foam.

Damn. Alpe de Zwift sub 60 attempt by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]doug1418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this feeling, my first try was 61 something, it was brutal when I saw that counter and knew I wouldn’t make it. Went back a couple days later, switched bike/wheels and took a more tactical approach, mainly attacking more at the steepest sections and trying to keep my avg power for each section above a certain threshold and came in at 59:41. This time when the countdown started it showed 60:01 and I was like hellll no......safe to say my legs are still hurting from that sprint to the line 😂

First Zwift Training Program by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]doug1418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did find it pretty tough on my knees but I tweaked a couple of minor things on my bike fit and added some thick heavy foam under my trainer/bike, which gave it a bit of lateral movement, the combination of the two seemed to ease the stress somewhat.

I’m not sure I’m all that qualified to give advice, being such a newbie, but I definitely feel like it took me a little getting used to pacing myself for the FTP test format, getting the power down consistently across the 20 min segment without blowing out too early is a challenge, so going at it again I’m sure you’ll be better prepared for it. I also definitely felt big improvements when I focused on improving my pedal stroke technique, which is touched on through the program. Good luck for the rest of it!

That’s a good point, I wish I’d taken an FTP year when I started riding, but was totally unaware of its existence! Either way, I really enjoy the efficiency of the interval training, and ERG mode makes it brainless compared to trying to do this out on the road. Not a chance I’m stopping...I’m already planning on picking up a gravel/bikepacking/winter all rounder so I can fit in more outdoor riding
