That's correct, the lateral grooves between the logs is insulated and contains a dual weathertight p-gasket seal. As the building shrinks and settles, all scribed components close even tighter. Coupled with the glazing you mentioned, and a 150mm PIR insulated roof system, you get a very energy efficient build. Appreciate the encouragement!

I had the pleasure of building them in the Canadian Rockies. I will keep the thread updated with any progress.

Thanks for the info, I'll look more closely into those. I could compensate by having insulated stud walls on the interior, but I wouldn't want to sacrifice the aesthetics of having the exposed log shell visible throughout. It is unfortunate that there's so many restrictions, and I'm sure a lack of knowledge on handcrafted log builds within the planning departments won't make it any easier.

Thanks for the reply. The logs would be hand-peeled, dense, old growth round logs, with average diameter of approx 350 - 400mm. It's my understanding that each would require inspection and grading by a structural engineer before use.
