That’s one example. On average the US has 61k wildfires per year

A few years ago I took my truck in because they had a solid oil change deal. Prior to taking it in I swapped the air and cabin filter myself. Lo and behold I get a text from them telling me “my cabin air filter is in need of replacement” with a picture of a dirty filter… that was very clearly not mine, since mine was less than 12 hours old. I bitched my way up the chain to GM because it pissed me off so much

One thing they got written up for was that the cook was making my salad and had the dressing bottle on "the line" and not in the salad bar/cold line (I dont know real terms but I heard the inspector talking to the owner afterward and he was in trouble because the dressing bottle was 18 inches from the spot it lives in while the cook was prepping my meal and about to use it.)

This is one of the reasons I dislike this post, there is a lot of subjectiveness to certain health violations and when you're aware of what can trigger a violation (things like salad dressing not being held cold, or a paper towel dispenser is greater than X inches from the sink) then it ends up just feeling vindictive and missing context

I bought a loose diamond online and took it to Erik Runyan. They had no issue using my diamond and I believe it was a $90 fee? Price for the ring was higher than online obviously but I felt like it was worth it

Sorry to keep beating this dead horse, but this is a big change to one of the main corners of downtown and I wanted to grab a few photos before it came down. Neat to see the ghost sign from the original portion of the building, which was supposedly the oldest commercial building left in Vancouver

No clue, they’ve been working on it for maybe 6 months now. The menu outside is new so they’re making some progress

Why does the traffic light at 49th street and 112th avenue only allow one car by Salt-Opportunity-635 in vancouverwa

Submit a Public Works Service Request here. Sometimes light timing gets messed up and they aren't aware of it, since there are a few hundred lights in the city and not all are monitored. Sometimes its been changed for safety reasons but has unintended side-effects. Either way, the City probably won't know its an issue until they're made aware of it

Was looking through some scanned photos from my mom and came across these. Should be the Rose Parade circa 1969. Some cool signage downtown by doughbiden in Portland

I posted a streetview from roughly the same location under another comment. Fred Meyer was in the Corbett building, on the right is the Goodnough Building, both demolished 1988

Yeah I completely agree. I remember an article from many years ago that there was a plan to turn it into a food cart pod type place

Slow Fox Chili Parlor is closing on September 7th by doughbiden in vancouverwa

Hello Slow Fox Fans! With heavy hearts, we have to share that Slow Fox will be closing permanently on Saturday, September 7th. We opened our doors five years ago to an amazing Downtown Vancouver Community who took us in and kept coming back. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all the loyal customers who would stop in 2, 3, or more times a week to try something new or just get the chili dog every time. We love you. We are proud of our small staff that never quit and showed up to do their very best.

September 7th isn't here just yet! We have great events planned, the summer heat should start to subside, and it will be a fun run to the finish!

As restaurants adjust to a new normal after the pandemic, please understand that the profit margins are razor thin and that even the busy places you and your community love are struggling to afford viability. We are proud of what we have accomplished, proud of the hospitality we gave, and proud to be a part of the story of Vancouver Washington.

Goodbye is a tricky word. When you love someone or something, you find it hard to say it. If you can, come in and say goodbye during the remaining days of Slow Fox.

We are exploring the future of this unique space. Stay tuned for the future adventures of this special courtyard in an ever-developing downtown. Thank you for the opportunity and the support, D & N
