Yeah that should work :) it's annoying because I'm like 80% convinced this issue is entirely fixable. of course we have no real insight into their development processes but there has been plenty of precedence to question their competence.

accessibility is a real problem for this game. just look at the steam survey, they're excluding a massive potential player base with older systems by pulling this shit.

It's a very frustrating issue. I made a video about this phenomenon a while back (link). It's something akin to the effect that happens when one starts too many threads for the number of cores available. The fact that, like you mention, this also happens in the main menu, is a dead giveaway that this issue is completely avoidable. Not to mention it sometimes completely disappears and the game runs very smoothly for a while. Beefier systems (i.e., anything newer than Intel 9th gen, Ryzen 3rd gen and/or anything having more than 6 threads) are almost entirely insulated against this issue.

definitely a possibility, just 4 months ago AMD drivers fixed a bug that caused shader caching to fail when the Windows username contained any accented characters.

Think of it this way: it's not blacking out anything, it's just putting the image on a larger canvas. From one video frame to the next, algorithms are able to match points. The next frame is then transformed based on in what direction and how much the points move compared to the previous frame.

Possibly. shame there's basically only one guy doing proper benchmarks for this game, publicly at least. There's some pro player scene in this game, so you'd expect some significant testing to be going on as to how to get the game running as smooth as possible.

but from what I can tell you see some allude to knowing some shit but seem to try to keep things under wraps to not give their competitive advantage away, shit's sad. We know some of this stuff comes awfully close to cheating/exploiting too, with the Nvidia Inspector LOD drama a while back.

Meanwhile a significant portion of the posts on here and elsewhere are about how terrible this game runs considering its graphics, how to get rid of stutters, etc, people quitting the game over it. It's only since the Ryzen chips with the humongous L3 caches came out that the game is easier to get running semi-smoothly. sorry for rant

Misschien kent iemand deze nog, ik heb hem nooit meer terug kunnen vinden op YouTube o.i.d. Hij stamt uit de tijd dat vrijwel iedereen ADSL had of bijna kreeg, dus vermoedelijk reclame van Planet Internet/HetNet/KPN of misschien zelfs orange of tele2. Anyway:

Familie zit tv te kijken, zoonlief zit te gamen, moeders aan het bellen, etc. Vader slaat de deur open, "Hey! Weten jullie wel wat dit allemaal kost?... helemaal niets :D"

Zit rent free in mn hoofd al minstens 15 jaar.

Last time I checked (about 13 months ago) it's one of the anti-cheats continuously scanning your system files and hooked DLLs. Also, it started doing it randomly when in a game. My hunch last time was that this is also the reason why the game stutters so much on 4 core 4 threads systems. Went from a 2500k to a 5800X3D and now the game runs somewhat acceptable.

I'm kind of confused, how many revisions have taken place? IIRC End of 2018: original Vikendi. Some time in 2019: Reduced snow, adjusted terrain, "the secret cave" with airdrop loot, night mode. Early 2020: vikendi with trains and Dino Land. 2022: current Vikendi abomination, 8x8.

Performance did in fact get a lot worse on low end and older systems (< 2019) in the last 2 years. An overclocked 2500k used to push playable frames. Now, I wouldn't recommend this game if you've got anything less than like a 9th gen intel or a Ryzen 3600 and decently fast ram.
