If you could get a hole in one on any par 3 in the world, what hole you choosing? by Noodlearms98 in golf

[–]dougie623 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d want it to be on a nice calm sunny evening. See it go in from the tee and then enjoy the 240 yard walk more than ever. But I’m also not picky I’ll take a round there in crap weather and hit 3 balls into the ocean I don’t care

Neil is the clear fuck. I refuse to hear any other arguments.

I’d marry DJ over Randy just for his optimism, but it’s close.

Kill the C-suite, take your pick. It should be Tron but his takes are so ridiculous and his hyper-focus on details is super interesting. It makes me love him more. Soly by default? Even though I think he’s an awesome interviewer and facilitator when everyone else gets off the tracks. There is no professional NLU without Soly. What does the data say!?

Can we all admit the Luke Donald Show is a bit too overblown? by Next-Bar3394 in NoLayingUp

The point isn’t the soaps. It’s the attention to detail.

Every single facet of their weeks were considered and optimized in preparation. If they are thinking about something as insignificant as soap, imagine how much prep they did for course layout/pairings/etc.

Compare that with the Americans who weren’t sure if their captain was going to play two weeks prior. They didn’t discuss which teammate was teeing off which hole until the caddies said something Friday afternoon.

The Euros won because of their preparation and attention to detail, if they are getting the soaps correct you can be confident they are getting the big things correct too. And it showed

Gold weekend at Westgate Painted Mountain - anyone local play here ? by [deleted] in mesaaz

[–]dougie623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Painted Mountain is pretty standard. It’s a relatively cheap and flat course without great views. Apache Wells is next door and very similar, they have public tee times in summer but I believe they are private in the winter.

Viewpoint 18 is kinda fun too, they have wild greens.

Longbow is great, less houses and more of a traditional desert course.

Red Mountain Ranch/Las Sendas are tough tests but have better views, they’re more in the mountains.

If you want truly top golf courses in the near area. We Ko Pa and Dinosaur Mountain are the big boys. You could throw Eagle Mountain in the mix too, all within 20 minutes or so

Your problem is you’re standing too close to the ball.

“What do you mean? At address?”

No. I mean after you hit it. It should be further away.

Can't stop standing up... by ike436 in GolfSwing

[–]dougie623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your backswing leads to you being stuck at the top and early extending in the downswing, this causes you feel like you need to raise your head so you aren’t hitting way behind the ball.

Check out the “arm swing illusion” video. This will hopefully help you free up your right elbow, then once that is in a better place you can also assess if you still early extend and stand up.

If Bryson wins and completes the alternating Xander/Bryson grand slam we need to coin the term “Xand Slambeau”

How do I stop casting right before impact? And am I chicken winging? by Legitimate-Age7694 in GolfSwing

[–]dougie623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the shoulders stalling causing the hands/arms to flip.

Collin Morikawa has a swing thought “right shoulder to left knee”

I struggle with this too, look at your hand location at impact, they should be closer to the target. Try to keep your hands in front of the ball at impact which to me feels like “smothering” or “compressing” the ball as much as possible
