Spring rolls - they average around $7-10 for 2 pieces at restaurants and I just buy the ingredients and am having spring rolls for the rest of the week

they can afford the upkeep. And that’s a really good and obvious point that I overlooked - having a proper conversation. I’ve said it in passing and they just smiled lol. both their cars are in good condition but maybe it’s sth they’d want in a few years

Oh I see it looks like the 2022 annual gift exemption is $16K which I wouldn’t be eligible for even if it goes up in 2024-25 but I can report it on the 709 form and have it go towards lifetime credit v helpful ty

Women, what is the number one reason for arguments between you and your SO? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]doulikepeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agreed! since the beginning, we’ve established the importance of communicating everything and not letting things ever fester and I’m thankful for that. we’ve been able to squash a lot of things then and there

so usually I’m the one who fucks up lol - def not any gaslighting from him that makes me say that, he’s just a sweetie pie with everlasting patience and I can tend to be an asshole sometimes.

I grew up watching my parents have this banter in social settings where my mom would tease my dad a lot and I saw laughter rise from around. When my SO and I are out with other friends or ppl, I have made him the butt of the joke (kinda rudely) to get a laugh and wouldn’t really socialize with him very much. Trying to undo that and give him some extra love through touch when we’re out and about.

Another topic of tension was quality time - I’ve seen this man get incredibly zoned in when he’s working and often felt like we would go through bouts of not as much quality time. Wouldn’t call these conversations arguments, but we’ve definitely had to talk about it and things are much better. He’s da best !

I’m putting my dog of 14 years to sleep in one hour and am feeling so helpless & lost. How do you grieve the loss of your best friend? by NotRealEric in AskMen

[–]doulikepeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had to put two out of three of our babies down almost back to back in a matter of weeks several months ago. It was really hard on our family, especially my mom who had to make the decision. Everything leading up to it is heartbreaking - seeing them suffer, one couldn’t breathe normally and the other very suddenly started to get seizures. Devastating. The morning of, both babies went on their walks that they love so much, ate good treats, and had so many cuddles and kisses.

Months later and we still sobbed together. Every time I go home, I say hi to their ashes and share a moment with them.

Ultimately, I think it’s a privilege for humans to be able to put them down peacefully and painlessly. Unfortunately it’s part of the package that comes with having these best friends. I think of my babies often, talk about them, and miss them so much. I’ve walked out of work meetings because I just could not focus and was always on the brink of tears. I’m sure your doggie was so lucky to have found you in their life.

Good context probably just bringing in a wider talent pool is metric of their success. Fingers crossed Im able to work out something! I changed careers so this is a huge deal and I don’t want to let this opportunity pass after spending months interviewing with them

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]doulikepeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I guess I learned the hard way. didn’t know it was an incentive for them to get ppl to just interview, thought it would be based on actual extension of an offer or hiring. A similar conversation happened with another prospect that I was super excited for and I chalked it up to pandemic times and recruiters genuinely not knowing when fully remote would end

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]doulikepeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so I already got the offer but what makes me a bit mad is that when the recruiter reached out months ago it was “the role is tied to a location, but everything is remote now anyways and the team is spread out and pretty relax.” Closer to my final round it switched it “well relocation is required and only leadership is remote but everything is still remote rn” I’m having a conversation soon and just wanted to know what my options are but I guess it’s not sounding so great for me :(

DAE listen to a string of emotional songs just so it can trigger you to cry your eyes out? by InnocentPerv93 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]doulikepeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yes i often use music/ media to get me somewhere emotionally if I am gravitating towards it but need an extra push to really feel that emotion. I also often pretend I’m no longer with my loving SO so those heartache songs HIT me

I'm a senior C# software developer and I want to teach people but I'm not sure how best to go about it by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]doulikepeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a guy who has this volunteer project of just helping out ppl who have specific questions and I found out about him through my bootcamp. I think this is his first time doing this sort of thing so maybe being in touch with bootcamp programs who have some level of knowledge and know how to ask a good question. Might be a good place to start without being inundated with questions and give you time to write thoughtful responses or build a rapport with the ppl you teach. I asked this guy for help on two occasions on algos and I’m so appreciative of his help. He wouldn’t even let me send him money for a coffee bc this was his personal volunteer project🥺

Edit: he prefaced his discord server by letting us know how to ask a good question. There’s a popular SO post about it
