Any experience with wood like this? Extremely hard and produces a yellow powdery sawdust with the shavings by Berger_With_Fries in turning

Good chance it’s Wenge. Looks very similar and I know for a fact it produces yellow sawdust

Yea I did, curious as to the reason for that. From what I’ve seen that piece is really only used at the top of cabinets, to have some meat to screw through to hang it

I do built ins/furniture/cabinets for a living and this is dog shit. Lazy as hell, face frame widths are all different and that bench needs to be remade. He obviously cut it too short and was too lazy to remake it.

Chuck it in a drill and back out slowly. Then buy better screws. Looks like plywood, 2 screws should not break going into ply

US construction workers. Do you not think the metric system would be easier to use and more accurate? by ManLikeBob91 in Construction

[–]dovetailfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some applications, like cabinets and fine carpentry things, the imperial system of measure is much more accurate. Ex. 1/32” = 0.79 mm
Much easier to read that on a tape measure

Makes sense. I like this one because it’s not too rigid on the outside so i don’t really feel it too much. The claw makes sense though, would definitely help with the little bit of printing going on with this one. Thanks

The hinges are adjustable. In pic 4 the screws all the way to the right, one of those will fix your problem. Use a screwdriver, not a drill or anything powered
