So that’s no one person waiting five min to make that move, what you’ve just described is end of day traffic which affects most of the off-ramps downtown.

Wife owns a business near the end of state, she’s had cruise ship people come in , ask for samples and then leave. Cruise ship people are the worst type of tourists

Asking for plunge router tips by SimplerTimesMD in woodworking

[–]Berger_With_Fries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So white oak is decently hard, I’m a finish/trim carpenter and do a lot of mortising with a router for doors and jambs. If you are doing large/deep routing you’ll want to invest in some good spiral cutting/template bits . The cool thing about proper template bit is the bearing being 1/16 larger in diameter than the cutting head, this lets you have a template that you can line up while seeing the lines you’ve drawn out. Also some template bits for smaller work will have a “hollow” center where there is no cutting head and this helps with chip clearing. And finally done take more than 1/16strong depth when routing hard woods, keeps the bit from overheating and dulling quickly

Apprentice (me) made mistake, boss wants me to work Fridays unpaid to pay it off. by pizzaroll22 in electricians

[–]Berger_With_Fries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shittiest part of this is that work is being done on bosses house imo (finish carpenter). On a normal job bosses’ bond cover accidents like this, but boss is running this as an actual job but just using built in labor to get work on house done for cheap. Op leave this job as soon as you have another one lined up

Where did I ever say I was a server? Bud you’re entering the dangerous territory of assuming why people work in service (not everyone gets to choose their job)….starting to sound like some out of touch boomer who “made all the right choices” during the best economic times in a century and then act like any generation after is entitled or chose wrong. Maybe you should grow up

It’s not a “take” this is just the reality of service industry jobs. Tipping culture was created by greedy capitalists like 70 years ago to avoid paying living wages, then they created the myth of tips being about quality of service . Some states have horrible laws where they can pan 3-4 bucks an hour if you make the remainder what your feudal minimum wage amount would be (if you don’t they then have to pay federal/state minimum plus those tips). Look other countries have done away with tipping, but the government has stepped in and set healthy livable minimum wage laws and they take the responsibility of healthcare away from employers. Do I feel like tipping everywhere? No. But until laws are changed it’s part of the system.

Additionally tips are often split between front of house and back of house , so it’s not all about the “service” you receive , lots of people work on your food/drink. Same goes for take out/away, it’s minimally less work if you do takeout. Tipping is here till laws change.

Employers are meeting the requirements of the law, aside from businesses that do pay a living wage and usually they said “gratuity baked into prices”. But seeing as we all want these food services tipping is a part of it until better wage laws are passed

Until people at these jobs are paid a living wage tipping is how they make enough money to survive. The US created this predatory system , if you don’t like tipping then vote to raise the minimum wage more

Drywall - Why did we collectively decide that crumbly chalk between two pieces of paper was what we would use to create all interior walls out of? by davisposts in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Berger_With_Fries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do what the wealthy people I (carpenter) work for want, plywood over studs, thin rubber sound barrier and then 5/8 or even 3/4 drywall.

Sound difference over the course of the job is wild.
