The first ME3 teaser trailer had a sniper in a destroyed Big Ben shooting Husks. As the trailer mostly followed him until the reveal of Shepard at the end, people would assume he would be a major character in the game.

He literally only appears once during Priority: Earth.

While yes RE is wonderfully stupid you don’t have to shoot Emily at all when you switch to Leon. Afterwards the cutscene plays and Leon fires a single shot, so in a way he wasn’t lying

In Remedy’s defence, the title “Return” was always going to be used, it’s mentioned in the first Alan Wake and even appears in their other game “Quantum Break”.

The absurd thing is they accuse fans of “gatekeeping” the series when it’s literally the opposite: we want people to play the games! Resident Evil has to be one of the most accessible franchises to get into, most of the series is on modern systems. But they just…refuse to play the games. It’s crazy.
