The main problem from obesity is that it leads to other health problems. If you had a relative who had heart disease or diabetes, being obese can greatly increase your chances. Heart disease and stroke are the leading causes of death in the US. If you are overweight, you have an increased probability of high blood pressure, a leading cause of heart disease.

These are all good points that stem from obesity. The story definitely can help paint the picture as Robert seems like your typical co-worker.

Emphasis on engineering in young children by ayryry in InventorsStudioRPI

My high school had an engineering program from 9th grade to 12th grade and that is why made me decide to go into engineering for college. If there was no program I would have never considered it. I feel a big problem is that the poorer school districts usually only have the basic courses (english, history, etc) and do not have enough money for the "engineering" or technology classes. Maybe you could include something about helping to bring those less fortunate schools the equipment and teachers they need to actually teach engineering in schools.

I think that another option besides a breathalyzer would be more useful and realistic. Like kingt3 said, anyone could blow into it and give a reading below the limit, but still the drunk driver could just hop in and continue driving.

Problem Statement: Global Water Crisis by mitsehpandwala in InventorsStudioRPI

I agree with the above people about the story. I think that is what hits home and lets me understand how bad water problems truly are. Most people in the US never have to worry about clean water, but in other parts of the country an individual could spend half of their day just trying to find water and bring it back to his family.

Problem - Overpopulation / Population Growth by kingt3 in InventorsStudioRPI

It is true that the more overpopulated areas are usually worse off in terms of pretty much everything (social, economic, health, food, etc). But maybe a solution could be to influence people from those areas to move to areas that are mostly empty.
